CIF Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. This is a full-time, office-based position located, working Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a company that is growing quickly and requires dynamic, practical HR support to keep pace with its expanding workforce and operations. The Human Resources Manager will oversee day-to-day HR functions while working closely with management, supervisors and project teams to support employees across multiple construction sites.
A major focus of this role will be helping select and implement a new HRES/HRIS platform. The successful candidate will play a leading role in configuring the system, developing standardized processes, coordinating training and successfully rolling it out across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate employees across multiple construction projects, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents and site leadership.
- Maintain an accurate master crew schedule, including employee rotations, project assignments, availability, transfers and upcoming workforce requirements.
- Anticipate staffing needs and help ensure projects have the appropriate workforce in place.
- Manage the full recruitment process, including preparing and posting job advertisements, screening applications, interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks and coordinating offers of employment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with tradespeople, unions, training institutions and other recruitment partners.
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation and pre-employment requirements for new employees.
- Work closely with the Safety Manager to identify training requirements, coordinate employee training and support workforce and project planning.
- Research, apply for and administer government training grants,
subsidies and other available funding opportunities.
- Maintain employee records, certifications, training documentation and other confidential HR information.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding company policies, performance management, employee relations and workplace concerns.
- Support progressive discipline, investigations, attendance management and other employee-relations matters.
- Assist with the development, review and consistent application of HR policies, procedures and employment documentation.
- Help develop standardized HR processes and ensure the new system meets the needs of HR, payroll, safety, operations and project teams.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable employment legislation, collective agreements and company requirements.
- Support additional HR projects and organizational initiatives as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of three years of progressive human resources experience, including experience in an HR leadership or management role.
- A recognized professional human resources designation, such as CHRP, is required.
- Experience supporting tradespeople or working in construction, mining, industrial operations or another project-based environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with recruitment, workforce scheduling, employee relations, performance management and policy administration.
- Experience implementing or administering an HRIS or similar employee-management system is considered a strong asset.
- Experience preparing and managing applications for training grants or workforce-development funding is an asset.
- Working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience working in a unionized environment or interpreting collective agreements is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce-tracking systems.

Pay: $70,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
