Progressive Pathways is seeking a Respite Support Worker to work with children, youth and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our respite services take a holistic approach to maintaining well-being through learning, finding independence, mindfulness exercises, regulation strategies, having fun and building meaningful connections with others.

If you are an individual who is able to lead, demonstrate creativity, problem solve and support clients in trying current activities and building confidence at their own pace - then you are likely a great fit for our Respite Support Worker role.

You must possess a genuine desire to promote independence, sound judgement and the ability to anticipate potential safety concerns.

Experience in Autism support, developmental services, child and youth work, early childhood education, personal support work, or a related field working with children is considered an asset.

Duties

- Carry out the LIFE Method (TM) respite model
- Implement ongoing activities and engagement with the client
- Work inside the client's home and/or within the local community




- Follow through on the client's LIFE Plan as written by the Director with caregiver's input, which address challenges and builds skills based upon the client's current strengths
- Communicate with caregiver as needed and feel comfortable in an autonomous position of trust within the client's home
- Complete and submit a short end of session summary report
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Director

Skills

- A general understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and/or willingness to learn through trained supervision
- Ability to regularly demonstrate patience, compassion and respect for client & caregivers
- Robust verbal and written communication skills in English

Mandatory Qualifications

- Recent Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check
- Current professional and commercial liability insurance

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 – 20.0 per week
