Cumming & Partners is a leading cross-border law firm focused on U.S. and Canadian business immigration. The firm brings together over sixty immigration professionals’ firm-wide, including senior partners who are called to the Bar in both countries and have practiced together for more than two decades.

The firm represents approximately 500 corporate clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, as well as thousands of individual clients, across industries including technology, engineering, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and professional sports. Cumming & Partners also serves as outside immigration counsel to many of North America’s leading law firms, delivering “big firm” expertise within a boutique setting.

Our reputation is built on superior client service, high-quality work, and strategic immigration solutions. The firm operates on a flat-fee model, uses proprietary case management technology, and provides each client with a dedicated service team and direct 24/7 lawyer access.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a bright, motivated, and detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant.

The Legal Administrative Assistant will provide essential administrative and file-management support, working closely with the Senior Associate and law clerk to ensure client files, correspondence, and immigration applications are handled accurately and efficiently. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who takes pride in getting the details right - whether you are early in your career or bring several years of administrative experience, what matters most is your reliability, attention to detail, and genuine desire to learn.

We offer:

- Hands-on mentorship and training, including full training on the firm’s case management software during onboarding.
- Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental,

and vision coverage.
- A close-knit, collegial team environment within a growing office of an established cross-border immigration firm.
- Exposure to Canadian and U.S. cross-border immigration matters within a fast-paced, high-performance legal workplace.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive work environment.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

- Schedule client and internal meetings and appointments.
- Work extensively with the firm's case management software to open new client files, create case updates, and archive closed matters.
- Create and maintain client case lists and input reminders to track case updates.
- Monitor government processing deadlines.
- Oversee and track all correspondence sent by mail, and process incoming mail, ensuring all documentation is saved and labelled properly in accordance with the firm's procedural manual.
- Populate immigration forms.
- Organize and assemble complete application packages.
- Provide general reception duties, including answering phones and greeting clients.
- Exercise strong file management and organizational skills.
- Perform other general administrative tasks as needed, including photocopying.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

Education & Experience:

- We welcome both recent graduates and experienced administrative professionals.
- No post-secondary education requirement - A Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma is an asset but is not required.
- Ideally at least 1-2 years of relevant administrative experience; however, we are equally open to recent graduates who bring maturity, a robust work ethic, and a genuine willingness to learn, even without prior admin experience.

- Previous legal administrative experience is an asset but is not a prerequisite; full training on our processes will be provided.

Skills & Competencies:

- Exceptional written and spoken English, given the volume of client-facing correspondence in this role.
- Exceptional attention to detail and robust organizational and file-management skills.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability - someone who takes initiative and follows through rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties by phone and email.

We would love to hear from you if you want to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
