Family Support Worker

Wage: $65,000 - $75,000 Annual Salary, dependent upon education and experience

Benefits: Paid sick leave, 3 weeks vacation, comprehensive benefits, and 5.5% employer pension match

Hours: 35 hours per week, with a rotation of one week in the community and one week Prince George (Flexibility required to accommodate member needs, and may include evenings and weekends)

Location: Kwadacha Community (Fort Ware) and Prince George Admin Office

Kwadacha Nation (Tsek’ene) is commonly known as Fort Ware and is located approximately 570 km north of Prince George, at the confluence of the Fox, Kwadacha, and Finlay rivers in the Rocky Mountain Trench. Responsibilities

The Family Support Worker is a part of the Kwadacha Health Department. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Family Support Worker works collaboratively with families and community members to ensure they receive appropriate support services and/or referrals that are culturally safe, respectful and empowering.

- Conduct individual and family needs assessments using a strengths-based, trauma informed approach.
- Assist community members in navigating and completing various forms including government and service applications.
- Participate and advocate in case management and collaboration meetings with external service providers.
- Support and guide parents by facilitating enrollment in workshops, rehabilitation, and/or skill building programs as outlined in the family care plans.
- Coordinate counseling,



provide crisis intervention and referrals to therapeutic support services (e.g. mental health and addiction programs).
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and support groups on relevant topics (e.g. Positive parenting, etc.)
- Develop and coordinate programming in response to identified needs within available funding and in compliance with legislation.
- Collaborate with the Elders program to integrate Kwadacha culture and traditional teachings.
- Maintain accurate records and case notes, and of contact with clients, support referrals, and/or other agencies.
- Provide regular case updates and consult with supervisor regarding children in care and families at risk to ensure safety and compliance.
- Execute responsibilities independently while maintaining open communication and integrating feedback and direction from supervisor.
- Work effectively within a team, share knowledge and contribute to a supportive work environment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a closely related field
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a related role
- Knowledge of Ministry of Child and Family Development protocols within the Canadian judicial systems
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, explicit Driver’s Abstract, and willingness to travel within Kwadacha
