Job Title: Mill Operations Supervisor

Reporting directly to the Mill Superintendent, the Mill Supervisor is responsible for maintaining safe, stable, and productive operational control of production circuits while meeting production, safety, and compliance expectations. During pre-commissioning and commissioning, this role will support operational readiness through the creation of safe work instructions (SWIs), lockout/tagout permits, and other duties as assigned. Once operational, the supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising mill operations personnel across crushing, conveying, grinding, flotation, dewatering, and tailings areas. As a key member of the Mill leadership team, the Mill Supervisor will play an integral role in developing employee capability and ensuring operational readiness.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Safety and Culture

- Lead a proactive safety culture through hazard identification, job observations, field level hazard identification, and area audits.

- Enforce lockout/tagout, confined space, PPE, SOP/SWI, and JSEA requirements.

- Investigate and document incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

- Maintain compliance with company policies, site standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Commissioning & Operations Readiness

- Support the commissioning team as required.

- Assist management with operational readiness by participating in operational readiness activities.





- Collaborate with subject matter experts, management & Mill Trainers to support the development of operator training programs and Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) to prepare for operational readiness.

- Reading and interpreting P&IDs;, assisting with the development of operational best practices & procedures.

- Co-develop, adopt, and enforce permit to work and lockout / tagout program(s).

Core Responsibilities

- Provide visible field leadership and maintain strong operational oversight across assigned mill areas.

- Troubleshoot daily operational issues.

- Monitor plant performance, production KPIs, equipment condition, housekeeping standards, and process stability.

- Facilitate Short Interval Control meetings and address performance gaps in real time.

- Coordinate with maintenance, training, metallurgy, and other departments to support reliable mill performance.

- Support workforce planning and isolation coordination during scheduled shutdowns and maintenance activities.

People Leadership

- Coach, mentor, and develop operators and Leading Hands.

- Manage personnel performance and development opportunities – working directly with Mill Trainer(s) to close capability gaps and maintain mandatory training compliance; ensuring workforce are safe, compliant, and competent.

- Provide timely feedback, document coaching interactions, and support individual development plans.

- Foster accountability, integrity, and consistent standards across the crew.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify process inefficiencies, equipment issues, and opportunities to improve throughput, recovery, downtime, and housekeeping.

- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for operational disruptions.

- Encourage team participation in operational excellence and improvement initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

- All other duties as reasonably assigned

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications





- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising ore processing or mill operations teams.

- Must possess BC Mine Supervisor ticket

Experience / Skills

- 8 years' experience working in mill operations or ore processing settings.

- Strong frontline leadership and communication skills.

- Demonstrated commitment to safety-first decision-making.

- Ability to manage performance, coach teams, and uphold standards.

- Strong understanding of production KPIs, plant operations, risk controls, and maintenance coordination.

- High integrity, sound judgment, and willingness to make difficult decisions in support of safety, people, process, and asset integrity.

Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $110,000-$150,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
