About the Role

Yaletown Medical Supplies is a busy retail store selling mobility and home-care equipment — wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, bathroom safety products, compression garments, braces and daily living aids.

We're looking for a Medical Retail Specialist who genuinely enjoys selling. This is a customer-facing, sales-focused role on the shop floor. You'll be the person who listens to what a customer needs, shows them the right options, explains the difference between them, and closes the sale.

Most of our customers are seniors, people living with a disability, or family members shopping on someone's behalf. They arrive with a problem, not a product name. Your job is to find the right answer for them.

What You'll Do

- Sell mobility and home-care equipment to walk-in customers
- Listen to each customer's situation and recommend suitable products
- Demonstrate equipment in-store and explain how it works
- Answer phone and email enquiries and convert them into sales
- Prepare quotes and process sales through our point-of-sale system
- Take rental bookings and prepare rental equipment for pick-up or delivery
- Handle insurance and funding paperwork with customers where required
- Unpack new stock and complete basic assembly and set-up of products such as walkers, rollators, commodes, transfer benches and scooter accessories
- Price items, maintain displays and keep the shop floor, stockroom and kitchen area clean and tidy
- Clean and disinfect returned rental equipment and demonstration products before they go back into service




- Assist with local deliveries of smaller items — such as wheelchairs, rollators and bathroom safety products — to customers in the Vancouver area from time to time. Larger equipment is delivered by our equipment team
- Follow up with customers after purchase

What We're Looking For

- Strong sales ability — comfortable approaching customers, asking questions and closing a sale
- Excellent spoken English and a warm, patient manner
- Genuine comfort working with seniors and people living with a disability
- Comfortable with light hands-on work — assembling and adjusting products using basic hand tools
- Able to lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs (23 kg) — for example unpacking stock, moving boxes to the stockroom, stocking shelves, and loading a folding wheelchair or rollator into a vehicle. Heavier or oversized items are handled with a second person or with equipment
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently in a small team
- Basic computer skills — point-of-sale, email, simple paperwork
- Previous experience in medical equipment, home health care, pharmacy or a related retail environment is a strong asset
- Retail or customer service sales experience in any field is welcome — we will train the right person on the products
- A valid BC driver's licence is an asset
- Legally entitled to work in Canada on a permanent basis

Schedule

Full-time, 30 hours per week. Store hours are 9:30 am to 6:30 pm; exact shifts will be arranged with the successful candidate.
