Production Lead / Lead Hand

The Production Lead / Lead Hand is the main leader on the production floor during the shift. This person works directly with production employees to keep the lines running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The Production Lead provides day-to-day direction to production employees, responds quickly to production and product issues, and works closely with QC, Maintenance, Warehouse, and the Production Supervisor to resolve problems.

This is a hands-on floor position. The successful candidate should be comfortable being actively involved in daily production, managing employees, making quick decisions, and taking action when issues arise.

Responsibilities

- Lead and support production employees on the floor during the shift.
- Assign work and make sure the team stays on schedule.
- Make sure production targets are met safely and efficiently.
- Monitor the production lines and act quickly when problems happen.
- Take immediate action when there are product, equipment, material, or production issues.
- Communicate important production issues and updates to the Production Supervisor.
- Work with QC to address product quality and food safety issues.
- Make sure employees follow GMPs, food safety, safety, and company procedures.
- Check that products are made according to the required standards.
- Coach and train employees and help them improve their work.
- Manage daily employee issues such as attendance, performance, and work assignments.
- Manage inventory registration and product traceability using the company's scanning system.
- Ensure all raw materials are properly scanned by operators during production.
- Scan and register all finished products to ensure accurate inventory and full product traceability.




- Make sure the correct materials and finished products are registered in the system.
- Work with Maintenance, QC, Warehouse, and other teams to solve problems.
- Monitor downtime, waste, and production performance.
- Keep the production area clean, secure, and organized.
- Report major production, quality, safety, or employee issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Support a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment.

Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous experience as a Lead Hand, Production Lead, Team Lead, or similar role is an asset.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and take appropriate action when problems occur.
- Ability to manage, coach, and motivate production employees.
- Good understanding of food safety, GMPs, and workplace safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with different teams.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when handling product traceability and inventory.
- Reliable, responsible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand and work on the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours and support production needs when required.

Schedule

- Morning Shift: Start time approximately 6:00 AM, with the end time typically between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM, depending on production requirements. The position is 3 to 4 days a week.
- The Production Lead must be flexible and willing to work in night shift if required.
- Shift assignments may vary based on production volume, staffing, vacations, and operational needs.
- Occasional extended hours may be required to support production needs.
