Job description

The Double Take Store is seeking a part-time Back Room Shift Supervisor (15-30hrs/wk. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient receipt and processing of goods in the back room. This position will appeal to a candidate who is passionate about social change and community empowerment in line with our values, and eager to lead a diverse team in growing Double Take’s impact on the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Back Room Team Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Supervising the receiving and processing of donated goods, ensuring staff on shift are working safely and effectively
- Supervising the sorting and pricing of goods in line with the store pricing strategy
- Modeling excellent customer service in donor and customer interactions
- Opening and closing back room, maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the back room and warehouse
- Creating a positive work environment for staff and volunteers, motivating them to perform with excellence
- Ensuring daily duties are completed as assigned to back room staff based on sales floor and back room needs
- De-escalating situations with donors or community members with empathy and through a trauma-informed lens
- Projecting a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and partners
- Upholding safety standards through regular inspections and implementing corrective actions




- Additional duties as required ensuring the effective operations

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:

- Business-oriented, with retail experience and/or warehouse experience
- Flexible and energetic team player, with an ability to work with a high degree of independence
- Good verbal communication and teaching skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Google Docs
- Understanding and experience working with people from diverse populations, including various cultures, religions, those with varying abilities, mental health challenges, etc.
- Customer service and merchandising experience an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to YSM’s/Double Take’s mission and values
- Passionate about social change and community empowerment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Successful completion of police check
