MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

FULL-TIME (35-40 hours/week with the option of 4-5 days per week)

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools is a learning community for anyone seeking a quality Catholic education. With over 13 schools, we provide quality teaching and learning outcomes for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 students. We are forming a Division team consisting of Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, a Physical Therapist, Psychologists, and Mental Health Therapists. They will be assisted by Catholic Family Services Liaisons and contracted specialists for Vision and Hearing. The Director of Student Services will be the day-to-day lead for the new Team.

The Division covers a geographical area that includes the regional communities of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith & Spirit River. We are a team of approximately 700 full time, part time and casual staff who provide quality teaching and learning experiences for approximately 5600 students.

This is a full-time,



Out of Scope position - 35-40 hours/week and additional time as required. Position to begin as soon as possible. Salary commensurate with experience: $60,655 - $95,182/yr. Comprehensive ASEBP benefit package/LAPP pension plan included.

The Mental Health Therapist works to ensure that the mental health needs of students are being supported, providing expertise where needed. As part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists, and under the direction of the Director of Inclusive Education, the Mental Health Therapist provides expertise and develops plans in support of students requiring interventions.

Areas of Responsibility include:

- Provide assessment and therapeutic treatment of

student’s mental health.

- Provide training and education to teachers &

support staff, and at times parents.

- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team
- Implement Division procedures as required
- Actively participate in Violence Risk Threat

Assessments (VRTAs)

- Other duties as assigned by the Director of

Inclusive Education

A clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check will be provided by the applicant.

Be in positive standing as a registered member of the Alberta College of Social Work or College of Alberta Psychologist.
