FABRICATOR / WELDER – Maintenance Contract Position

Primary Responsibility

The Fabricator / Welder is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Department with the fabrication, modification, repair, and installation of metal components, guards, frames, brackets, supports, platforms, and other equipment required within the manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate must have practical fabrication experience and be proficient in welding, particularly Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW / stick electrode welding).

Key Accountabilities

- Fabricate, modify, repair, and install metal components and structures required for plant equipment and maintenance projects.
- Perform SMAW / stick electrode welding and other welding processes as required.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, weld, grind, drill, and assemble steel components.
- Fabricate machine guards, brackets, frames, supports, platforms, railings, and other maintenance-related components.
- Perform repair welding on machinery, equipment, and structural components where appropriate.
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, measurements, and verbal instructions provided by the Maintenance team.
- Use fabrication equipment and hand/power tools safely, including grinders, saws, drills, cutting equipment, and welding machines.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure proper fit, quality, and workmanship.
- Work closely with Maintenance personnel to complete fabrication and repair projects within required timelines.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and the work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all Company Health & Safety, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Food Safety, and plant operating procedures.
- Perform other fabrication and maintenance-related duties as required.





Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 2–3 years of practical welding and metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong experience with SMAW / stick electrode welding is required.
- .
- Ability to fabricate components from measurements, drawings, sketches, or existing equipment.
- Experience cutting, fitting, grinding, drilling, and assembling mild steel.
- Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment and associated hand and power tools.
- Good understanding of welding safety and safe work practices.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or plant maintenance environment is preferred.
- CWB or recognized welding certification is an asset but may not be required depending on the nature of the work.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently as well as with the Maintenance team.

Physical & Work Requirements

- Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication and maintenance work.
- Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in different positions while completing fabrication work.
- Comfortable working in an active manufacturing workplace.
- Must wear required PPE, including CSA-approved steel-toed safety footwear and appropriate welding PPE.

Employment Terms

This is a temporary full-time position expected to last approximately 2 to 3 months, depending on project requirements.

The position is intended to provide additional fabrication and welding support to Bulldog Bag Ltd.'s Maintenance Department for current plant projects.

Hourly Rate: $32.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated fabrication/welding skills.
