**Job Title: Production Worker – Construction Components**

**Job Description**

This role focuses on safely and efficiently assembling wall panels, floor panels, and roof trusses for the home construction industry using a variety of equipment and hand tools.

You read and interpret plans and blueprints, work with kitted wood guided by laser layouts, and perform visual quality checks to ensure each component meets established standards.

**Responsibilities**

+ Operate a variety of equipment and hand tools safely and productively to assemble wall panels, floor panels, and roof trusses.
+ Read and interpret plans and blueprints to understand specifications and assembly requirements.
+ Assemble floors, roof trusses, and walls used in residential home construction.
+ Work with pre-kitted wood at truss and floor tables, using laser guides to position materials accurately.
+ Apply nail plates and use hammers, nail guns, and other hand tools to secure wood and complete assemblies.
+ Perform thorough visual quality checks on assembled components to ensure they meet company standards.
+ Follow all safety procedures when operating saws, nail guns, and other power tools.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safety.
+ Collaborate with team members in floor, wall, or truss areas to meet production targets.
+ Handle general labor and production tasks as needed to support overall workflow.

**Essential Skills**

+ At least 1 month of experience in an active construction-related role such as roofing, shop class, home renovations, or similar hands-on work.
+ Minimum 3 months of experience working with hand tools (e.g., hammer, drill, saw) either at work or in a practical home setting.
+ Ability to read a measuring tape accurately in both standard and metric units.
+ Demonstrated experience with general labor, production, or assembly line work.
+ Experience with roof truss assembly.
+ Experience working in a sawmill or similar wood-processing workplace.
+ Proficiency using nail guns safely and effectively.
+ Ability to competently operate a variety of saws and power tools.
+ Experience in construction, framing, or building structural components.
+ Comfort working with wood materials and using common construction tools.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Experience with farm work, landscaping, or other physically active roles that involve tools and outdoor labor.
+ Experience in general production or assembly production environments.
+ Familiarity with shop class or vocational training related to construction or woodworking.
+ Ability to work effectively in small teams of 2 to 5 people in different plant areas (floors, walls, trusses).
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality when performing visual inspections.
+ Willingness to learn new equipment and processes and grow within the organization.

**Work Environment**

The work environment is not fully climate controlled, so you should be prepared to work in varying temperatures, including heat and cold, depending on the season and your area within the plant.

Large industrial fans help improve air circulation.

Teams typically range from 2 to 5 people in floor, wall, or truss areas, fostering close-knit teamwork.

The dress code is relaxed, requiring CSA-approved steel-toed boots; jeans are acceptable, hats are allowed, and clothing must not display profane language.

The role follows a day shift schedule, with hours from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Fridays, providing a consistent daytime work pattern.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thorndale, ON.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Thorndale,ON.
