Our client, a well-established CPA firm in Edmonton, is seeking an Accounting Technician to join their growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced public practice professional with strong exposure to Notice to Reader (NTR) files, Compilation engagements, Review engagements, and tax preparation. The firm is looking for someone with 3 to 5 years of relevant public practice experience who can work independently, manage files efficiently, and contribute to a collaborative client-service setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare Compilation and Notice to Reader engagements for a diverse portfolio of owner-managed and private company clients

- Assist with and prepare working papers and financial statements for Review Engagements

- Complete corporate, personal, and partnership tax returns

- Prepare year-end files, including lead sheets, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation

- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, clarify discrepancies, and respond to inquiries

- Identify issues, variances, and opportunities for process improvement throughout engagements





- Support managers and partners with file preparation and client deliverables

- Ensure work is completed accurately and in accordance with firm standards, professional requirements, and deadlines

- Mentor and support junior team members as needed

Qualifications

- 2 years of experience in public accounting, preferably within a CPA firm

- Strong experience with NTRs, Compilation engagements, Review engagements, and tax work

- Proficiency preparing corporate and personal tax returns

- Solid understanding of accounting principles and year-end file preparation

- Experience working with owner-managed businesses and private company clients

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Proficiency with CaseWare, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office is considered an asset

- CPA designation is not required
