Role Description The Architectural Technologist will work on-site in Surrey, BC in a full-time capacity, supporting the design and documentation of residential projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing architectural, construction, and working drawings, developing detailed technical documentation, and ensuring plans comply with local building codes and regulations.
The role involves translating design concepts into accurate technical drawings, coordinating design details with internal team members, and responding to revision requests from clients and consultants.
The Architectural
Technologist will review drawings for quality and consistency,
maintain organized project files, and use relevant software to produce and update plans efficiently. Collaboration with designers, engineers, and permitting authorities is an ongoing part of the position.
Qualifications
- Robust proficiency in Architectural Technology, with the ability to apply building science and design principles to residential projects.
- Ability to produce precise Technical Drawing and Architectural Drawings using industry-standard CAD or BIM tools.
- Experience preparing comprehensive Working Drawings that support construction, permitting, and coordination.
- Skill in developing detailed Construction Drawings that align with codes, standards, and best practices.
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of Canadian and local Surrey, BC building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate respectfully with diverse team members, clients, and consultants.
- Experience with residential design, home planning, or small-scale construction projects is an asset.
