Architectural Designer / BCIN Permit Drawing Specialist

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Architectural Designer / BCIN Designer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing professional, permit-ready architectural and construction drawings for new homes, renovations, additions, and residential developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete architectural and construction drawing packages for building permit applications.
- Produce floor plans, elevations, sections, details, roof plans, site plans, and construction details.
- Ensure drawings comply with the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and applicable municipal requirements.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other consultants.
- Review zoning and building-code requirements.
- Prepare and revise drawings in response to municipal comments.
- Coordinate building permit submissions and assist with the approval process.
- Maintain organized project drawing files in both digital and hard-copy formats.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, engineers, clients, and municipal building departments.
- Visit job sites when required to verify existing conditions and coordinate construction details.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid and verifiable BCIN qualification is required.
- Ontario class G Driver's License is required.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and municipal permit requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar architectural drafting software.
- Ability to prepare accurate, detailed, permit-ready drawing packages.
- Experience with recent homes, additions, renovations, and residential construction.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Working knowledge of municipal by-laws, building codes, construction methods, and detailing.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Approximately 1-3 years of experience within an architectural, design, or construction environment.
- Experience in commercial and retail project environments is considered an asset.
- Experience managing building permit applications and municipal comments.
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
