Assembly Technician / General Labourer
Full-Time, Six-Month Contract
Location: 195 Pony Drive, Newmarket, Ontario
Pay: $19.00 per hour to start
Schedule: Monday to Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Start date: As soon as a suitable candidate is selected
Contract term: Six months from the employee’s start date
About Aurora Generators
Aurora Generators is seeking a mechanically inclined Assembly Technician or General Labourer to help build high-quality, reliable diesel generators for residential, industrial, and off-grid applications.
You will work as part of a small team in our Newmarket facility. Training will be provided, but successful candidates should be comfortable working with tools, machinery, mechanical components, and basic electrical assemblies.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble electrical panels, wiring harnesses, engines, alternators, frames, and generator enclosures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Troubleshoot and help diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Follow assembly instructions, diagrams, and established quality-control procedures.
- Communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and management.
- Assist with general shop labour, organization, cleaning, and upkeep.
- Perform work that may involve standing, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Mechanically and electrically inclined, with an interest in learning how generators are assembled.
- Comfortable using hand tools, machinery, and power equipment.
- Solid manual dexterity for wiring-harness assembly and electrical-panel building.
- Able to follow instructions carefully and complete work accurately.
- Reliable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
- Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lb.
Heavier items are moved with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- CSA-approved safety footwear is required.
- Previous experience with generators, engines, electrical assembly, power equipment, or heavy equipment is an asset but not required.
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
- College, university, or skilled-trades education is an asset but not required.
Position Details This is a temporary, full-time employee position lasting six months from the successful candidate’s start date. We are looking to fill the position as soon as we find a suitable candidate.
Continued employment beyond the six-month contract is not guaranteed. Depending on business requirements and individual performance, the contract may be extended or the employee may be considered for permanent employment.
The regular schedule is currently Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours and scheduling may change based on operational requirements and applicable employment standards.
