Opportunity for Advancement

Benefits: This position does not currently include a benefits package.

Cannabis Corner Kelowna is looking for a reliable, motivated and adaptable Full-Time Assistant Manager to join our team.

We are looking for someone who isn't just searching for their next job — we're hoping to find someone who wants to grow with us and become a long-term part of Cannabis Corner.

This position includes significant training and development, with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and advance within the company as you grow into the role.

Current Cannabis Corner Employees Are Encouraged to Apply!

This opportunity is absolutely open to our existing team.

If you're already part of Cannabis Corner and feel ready to take the next step into leadership, we'd love to hear from you. You don't need to wait for us to approach you — if you're interested in growing with the company, apply!

What Will My Schedule Look Like?

Once training is complete, the anticipated regular Assistant Manager schedule will most likely be:

Friday – Opening Shift

Saturday – Opening Shift

Sunday – Opening Shift

Monday – Closing Shift

Tuesday – Closing Shift

Wednesday & Thursday – Regular Days Off

This will generally provide a consistent five-day work week and two consecutive days off.

However, flexibility is an important requirement of the Assistant Manager position.

As part of the management team, there will be times when your schedule needs to change to accommodate vacations, staff absences, inventory, training, operational needs or unexpected shift coverage.

Your regular schedule gives you a home base — but we're looking for someone who understands that management occasionally means working where you're needed.

October Training Schedule

October will look different from your regular schedule.

Training will take place throughout the entire month and will include a mixture of opening, daytime and closing shifts.

This is intentional. We want our Assistant Manager to understand how the store operates throughout the entire day rather than only learning one portion of the business.

You'll begin moving into Assistant Manager responsibilities fairly quickly. As you become comfortable with our systems and procedures, you'll start taking ownership of management duties with support and training from the Store Manager.

What You'll Be Doing

As Assistant Manager, you'll help support the Store Manager with:

- Leading and supporting staff during daily operations
- Opening and closing the store

- Helping maintain appropriate staffing and shift coverage
- Stepping in to cover shifts when reasonably required
- Supporting employee training and onboarding
- Helping maintain staff accountability and store procedures
- Cash handling, till management, floats and deposits
- Receiving and organizing inventory
- Inventory counts, cycle counts and inventory accuracy
- Maintaining merchandising and store presentation
- Monitoring stock levels and communicating inventory needs
- Ensuring provincial cannabis regulations and store policies are followed
- Handling customer concerns professionally
- Supporting online orders, pickups, refunds and other store procedures
- Maintaining cleanliness and completing daily operational duties
- Communicating issues, incidents and staff concerns to the Store Manager
- Taking charge of the store when the Store Manager is unavailable

As you progress through training and demonstrate your abilities, you'll have opportunities to take ownership of additional areas of the business.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

Reliable. If you're scheduled to be here, we need to know you're going to be here.

Flexible. Retail doesn't always go according to plan. While the position has an anticipated regular schedule, you need to be willing and able to adjust when staffing or operational needs require it.

Interested in growing. We want someone who wants to learn the business, develop their leadership skills and take on more responsibility over time.

Looking for something long-term. We're investing considerable time and training into this position. We're looking for someone who can see themselves being part of Cannabis Corner for the foreseeable future and growing alongside the store.

Responsible. You'll be trusted with keys, cash, inventory, staff and the operation of the store.

Confident. You need to be comfortable giving direction, enforcing policies and having respectful but sometimes difficult conversations.

Organized. There are a lot of moving pieces in cannabis retail, and attention to detail matters.

Approachable. We want staff to feel comfortable coming to management while still understanding that expectations and policies need to be followed.

Self-directed. Once trained, you should be able to recognize what needs attention,

prioritize your workload and take initiative without needing constant direction.

Experience

Previous retail experience is an asset, particularly experience with inventory, compliance, product knowledge or leadership.

Previous supervisory or management experience is also an asset.

However, we're equally interested in finding someone with the right work ethic, reliability, leadership potential and willingness to learn.

Applicants must meet all provincial requirements to work in a licensed cannabis retail store and be able to obtain and maintain any required certification.

Growth & Advancement

We believe in developing people from within whenever possible.

For the right person, the Assistant Manager position can be an opportunity to learn much more than basic retail management. You'll gain hands-on experience with inventory, staff development, store operations, compliance, loss prevention, merchandising and the behind-the-scenes work involved in running a licensed cannabis retail store.

We want someone who is interested in growing their role as the company grows.

A Little About Our Store

Cannabis Corner Kelowna is an independent cannabis retailer with a small, close-knit team.

Our store is also a little different from your average workplace, we have a store cat, store fish and regularly have dog coworkers, so being comfortable around animals is important.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their workplace, enjoys being part of a team and genuinely wants to become a meaningful part of the store.
