The Banding Line Operator is responsible for safely operating the banding line and related equipment to package, band, and prepare processed materials for storage or shipment. This role ensures products are packaged according to customer requirements, company standards, and established packaging specifications while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate the banding line and associated equipment in a safe and productive manner.
- Assist the slitting crew with unloading and handling processed material.
- Prepare packaging materials and supplies required for daily production activities.
- Package finished products according to customer specifications and established packaging codes.
- Coordinate with forklift operators and other team members to move finished products to staging, storage, or shipping locations.
- Safely discharge packaged material from the packaging line to designated warehouse storage areas.
- Perform visual inspections to ensure products meet quality and packaging requirements.
- Complete required production and packaging documentation accurately and on time.
- Support efficient workflow and productivity within the department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Quality, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

- Proactively identify, document, and report non-conformities related to products, processes, and quality systems.
- Participate in corrective and preventive action processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure non-conforming products are properly identified and prevented from further processing until issues are resolved.
- Comply with all quality, environmental, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.




- Promote a safe work environment through adherence to established safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain work areas in accordance with 5S housekeeping standards.
- Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Strive for continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.

Education & Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1-2 years of manufacturing, production, warehousing, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in a steel processing, packaging, or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely operate equipment and follow work instructions, packaging specifications, and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, material handling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Forklift experience or certification is considered an asset.
- Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to work all shifts as required.

* This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, and nights. The starting base pay for this position is $21.90 with the potential for increases after 3 months and 6 months. This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive plan.
