Operating out of the Ontario Food Terminal, Dom Amodeo Produce Ltd. services Central and Southwestern Ontario with deliveries seven days a week, offering reliable supply and responsive customer service.
Role Description This is a full-time, in office Buyer / Sales role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. The Buyer / Sales team member will source and purchase fresh produce, negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, and monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability and quality. The role includes building and maintaining relationships with customers, preparing quotes, processing orders, and coordinating with logistics staff to meet delivery schedules.
Daily responsibilities also involve tracking market trends, managing product assortment, and responding to customer inquiries and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
The position requires close collaboration with warehouse and operations teams to maintain standards of quality, food safety, and efficient order fulfillment.
Qualifications
- Experience in buying or sales within produce, food distribution, or a related industry, with strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of fresh produce quality standards, food safety practices (e.g., HACCP), and basic inventory management principles.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and via email.
- Solid numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills for pricing, margin analysis, and market trend evaluation.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, order entry systems) and comfort working with terminal-based or ERP software.
- Ability to work on-site in a rapid-paced environment, including early mornings or weekend shifts as needed to support seven-day operations.
- Previous experience at the Ontario Food Terminal or in wholesale produce is an asset.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in business, commerce, supply chain, or a related field is an asset.
