We're looking for a Lead Carpenter with strong rough and finish carpentry skills who takes pride in their craftsmanship and can confidently guide others on site.

As a Lead Carpenter, you work closely with our Site Supervisor and Project Management team, leading carpentry scopes from layout through completion, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the development of Carpenters, Apprentices, and Site Helpers.

The Digital Advantage: JobTread

We utilize JobTread, a leading construction management platform, to keep our projects on track and our team connected. As a Lead Carpenter, you will use your smartphone to review tasks, access drawings and specifications, document progress, and communicate site issues.

Your Digital Responsibilities

· Daily Logging: Use JobTread to log progress, upload daily build or millwork photos, and communicate design hurdles, deficiencies, or questions.

· Task Follow-Through: Review your daily schedule and assigned scopes, then coordinate priorities with the Site Supervisor and crew.

· Time Tracking: Accurately clock in/out and track your hours directly through the platform to support precise job costing.

Detailed Responsibilities

Rough Carpentry & Framing

· Structural Framing: Lead and execute layout, measuring, cutting, and assembly of wood framing, floor joists, rafters, engineered lumber, wall sections, and related structural carpentry to spec.

· Precision Substructures: Install and verify structural backing, blocking,



window/door rough openings, subfloors, and other assemblies accurately so succeeding trades inherit clean, reliable work.

· Blueprint Literacy: Read and interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, sketches, and digital instructions in JobTread; flag conflicts or unclear details before work proceeds.

Finish Carpentry

· Doors & Trim: Independently install interior and exterior doors, baseboards, casing, crown moulding, and detailed trim to a high finish standard.

· Hardware & Cabinetry: Install architectural hardware, cabinetry, millwork, built-ins, and specialty components with accurate alignment, reveals, and clean final presentation.

· Preservation & Deconstruction: Lead careful dismantling and reinstallation of millwork or structural elements during renovations to protect items and areas intended for preservation.

Team Leadership & Growth

· Crew Direction: Provide clear daily direction to Carpenters, Apprentices, and Site Helpers working within your scope, while coordinating closely with the Site Supervisor.

· Coaching & Development: Teach proper techniques, answer questions, provide constructive feedback, and help developing team members improve their skills and confidence.

· Leadership by Example: Model strong work ethic, quality workmanship, tidy site presentation, respectful communication, and a “Safety First” mindset.

Dynamic Technical Support & Site Stewardship

· Flexible Hands-on Support: Maintain a team-first attitude. When specialized carpentry is not actively required, comfortably support general construction tasks such as drywall patching, caulking, painting, minor demolition, protection, or safety setup.

· Tool & Site Stewardship: Maintain your carpentry tools and company equipment carefully. Keep your workstation and the broader job site clean, organized, professional, and free of safety hazards.

What You AREN'T Expected to Do

We believe in setting our team up for success, not stress. As a Lead Carpenter, we respect clear responsibility and decision-making boundaries:

· Make Unapproved Structural or Design Changes: If drawings, engineering, or design intent are unclear,



you are expected to flag the issue and seek direction rather than make an unauthorized change.

· Carry the Entire Project Alone: You lead carpentry execution, but overall project scheduling, client management, contracts, and project-level decisions remain with the Site Supervisor and Project Management team.

· Perform Licensed Non-Carpentry Trade Work: While you may assist or coordinate alongside them, you won't be expected to complete specialized electrical, plumbing, gas, or other licensed trade work.

· Compromise Safety for Speed: We never expect you to bypass safety protocols or rush work to save time. If a setup or tool feels unsafe, you are expected to stop and address it.

· Manage Project Finances: You are responsible for material efficiency and productivity within your scope, but not client billing, contract negotiations, or overall project budgets.
