- Joyceville Public School – 1776 Joyceville Road
- St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School – 114 Wiley Street
- Rideau Heights Public School – 77 Maccauley Street
- Amherstview Public School – 70 Fairfield Blvd.
Position Timeline: September 2026 – June 2027 Hours: Up to 20 hours per week
Availability Required: Monday to Friday between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Rate of Pay: $19.00/hour
About the Role
As an After School Program Leader, you will help create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for children and youth. You will support the planning and delivery of recreational, educational and social programming designed to promote positive development, build confidence and encourage healthy relationships.
Program Leaders are positive role models who demonstrate respect, cooperation, fairness and a positive attitude while helping children and youth learn, participate and have fun.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead and participate in engaging activities based on HIGH FIVE principles, the BGC Model for Success and our four program pillars: Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness, Physical Activity and Education.
- Supervise children and youth while maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive program workplace.
- Encourage participants to engage, build relationships and have fun.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios.
- Use positive and effective behaviour-management strategies in accordance with BGC policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation, including incident and accident reports.
- Maintain clean, safe and organized program spaces.
- Communicate with the Program Supervisor/Coordinator regarding programming, participants and operational needs.
- Participate in required staff training and meetings.
- Represent BGC South East positively within the community and when working with partners.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a post-secondary program.
- Previous experience working with children or youth in a recreational, camp, childcare or similar setting.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Current TDP (10-year booster) and MMR immunizations.
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid driver's licence and/or reliable transportation.
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification is considered an asset.
