Class 1 Tanker Driver – Fluid Hauler

Position Summary The Class 1 Tanker Driver – Fluid Hauler is responsible for the safe transportation, loading, transfer, and unloading of fluids using tanker trucks and trailers. The driver must operate all equipment safely, follow company and client procedures, complete required documentation, and maintain a high standard of professionalism while working at industrial, oilfield, and customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate Class 1 tanker trucks and trailers.

Transport water, production fluids, wastewater, drilling fluids, and other approved materials as assigned.

Complete safe loading and unloading of fluids at customer sites, leases, disposal facilities, and other approved locations.

Connect and disconnect hoses, valves, pumps, fittings, and related fluid-transfer equipment.

Monitor tank levels, pressures, valves, and transfer equipment during loading and unloading.

Prevent overfills, spills, leaks, and cross-contamination.

Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.

Inspect tanker compartments, hoses, fittings, pumps, valves, and safety equipment.

Ensure loads are transported safely and within legal weight requirements.

Maintain accurate load tickets, manifests, driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

Comply with Hours of Service, TDG, and all applicable transportation requirements.





Follow site-specific procedures, hazard assessments, and customer instructions.

Report mechanical issues, spills, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

Maintain assigned truck and tanker in clean and safe operating condition.

Communicate regularly with dispatch and supervisors regarding loads, delays, site conditions, and operational concerns.

Follow company spill response and environmental procedures.

Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, training, and competency assessments.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence.

Minimum 3 years of Class 1 commercial driving experience.

Previous tanker or fluid-hauling experience required.

Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.

Clean and acceptable 5-year driver’s abstract.

Strong knowledge of safe tanker loading, unloading, and fluid-transfer procedures.

Ability to safely operate pumps, hoses, valves, fittings, and tanker equipment.

Strong understanding of commercial vehicle safety and Hours of Service requirements.

Ability to work independently in industrial, oilfield, and remote environments.

Strong communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.

Reliable and able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends as required.

Oilfield Driver Awareness or equivalent training

Physical Requirements The employee must be able to:

Enter and exit commercial vehicles repeatedly.

Lift, carry, pull, and position tanker hoses and related equipment.

Climb tanker access points or ladders where required.





Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, snow, rain, mud, and wind.

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical duties for extended periods.

Lift approximately 50 lbs when required.

Wear required PPE for extended periods.

Working Conditions

Day and night shifts.

Weekend and statutory holiday work.

Extended and variable shifts depending on operational requirements.

Oilfield, industrial, rural, and remote work environments.

Gravel roads, winter driving, and changing road conditions.

Exposure to noise, dust, mud, fluids, and industrial environments.

Safety Responsibilities The Class 1 Tanker Driver is expected to:

Follow all company health and safety policies.

Complete required hazard assessments before starting work.

Verify correct product, destination, and receiving location before unloading.

Maintain proper spill-prevention controls.

Report all hazards, incidents, near misses, and equipment concerns.

Operate only equipment for which they are trained and competent.

Maintain safe distances from personnel and equipment during tanker operations.

Employment Requirements

Employment may be conditional on:

Review of a clean 5-year driver’s abstract

Reference checks

Drug and alcohol testing where required

Driver competency assessment

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 90.0 – 100.0 per week
