Job Summary The Commodity Receiver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and effective receiving of inbound bulk commodities used in feed manufacturing. This role ensures that all incoming materials meet company standards for quality, quantity, HACCP, and regulatory compliance. The Commodity Receiver also assists with outbound shipments, maintains biosecurity and safety requirements, and communicates effectively with other departments to support production flow.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately weigh inbound trucks and record all load information in the data collection system.
- Weigh, sample, and examine incoming bulk commodities, following all procedures (including W#4 Instructions).
- Probe and inspect incoming grains such as corn, wheat, barley, and mixed grains to confirm quality and compliance.
- Operate both automatic and manual probes for testing and sampling as required.
- Clearly explain unloading procedures and safety requirements to carriers.
- Direct trucks to appropriate unloading areas and monitor unloading to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Assist with the loading of outbound vehicles when required.




- Communicate effectively with purchasing, receivers, production assistants, and dispatch to coordinate receiving and shipping schedules.
- Maintain detailed and accurate receiving, inspection, and shipping records.
- Monitor and report any damaged loads, contamination, or quality concerns to management.
- Ensure all receiving, unloading, and loading activities comply with safety, biosecurity, and regulatory standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties in receiving pits, storage bins, and yard areas to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation as required.
- Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs to ensure proper functioning of receiving equipment.
- Participate in training and ongoing development to stay current with procedures, regulations, and safety standards.
- Support other plant operations and undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in commodity receiving, agriculture, or feed manufacturing is an asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP regulations and ability to follow documented procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Ability to operate truck scales, commodity probes,



and other related equipment.
- Effective communication skills for working with drivers, team members, and other departments.
- Familiarity with grain quality standards and feed ingredients is considered an asset.
- Physically capable of performing tasks including climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to workplace safety, HACCP compliance, and company policies.

Work Environment:

- Primarily based in a feed mill receiving facility.
- Exposure to dust, grain, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
