Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) Coordinator to lead and manage community-based initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for young children and their families. In this role, you will coordinate program activities, foster partnerships with local organizations, and oversee the implementation of services that support early childhood development. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a passion for community engagement.

Duties

- Develop and implement comprehensive community action plans aligned with program goals to enhance early childhood services
- Coordinate daily program activities, ensuring they meet quality standards and community needs
- Ensure children's programs are grounded in culture-based development principles and practices.
- Manage program budgets efficiently, including planning, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring fiscal accountability
- Promote the development of protocols and referral agreements as appropriate to meet the developmental needs of Indigenous children in the community/catchment area.
- To assist in child development through increasing life skills, safety awareness, nutrition and healthy physical development activities, and culturally appropriate services. Open to work some weeknights and weekends delivering programs throughout the entire catchment area.
- To coordinate activities and services that improve family functioning and child development.
- Creates safe spaces for parents and caregivers to meet, share experiences, and build supportive social networks.




- Collaborate and partner with health authorities' indigenous organizations, and community agencies to deliver culturally grounded support.
- To undertake any other such reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, local agencies, and families to promote program participation
- Organize outreach events, workshops, and informational sessions to increase awareness of available resources
- Monitor program progress through data collection, reporting, and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement

Qualifications

- Shall possess work related experience in infant and child related work.
- Knowledge of the Anishinaabemowin language and culture(s) common to the area is an asset.
- Knowledge of social, cultural, and recreational needs and interests of children.
- Strong ability to communicate with children and families.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous people.
- Knowledge of case management/conferencing and maintaining case notes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Solid interpersonal skills.
- Work to meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
- Understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Current First Aid CPR Certificate




- Provide a CPIC/Vulnerable sector check.Proven experience in program management within community services or early childhood development settings
- Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation
- Knowledge of local social services resources and early childhood development best practices is preferred
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
