Position Summary

NAS is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Support Worker to join our team at the Keddie Group Home in Northeast Calgary. In this role, you will support individuals with developmental disabilities and complex support needs to achieve their personal goals, maintain their well-being, and actively participate in their communities.

The successful candidate will be comfortable providing personal care, supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs, and responding calmly and professionally in challenging situations. Some individuals may display physical aggression, verbal outbursts, or property damage; therefore, experience with behavioural support strategies and crisis response is considered an asset. Comprehensive behavioural support plans and training will be provided.

This position also requires transporting individuals to medical appointments and community activities, including recreational programs such as swimming.

- Follow agency policies, procedures, and support plans.

Schedule & Compensation Permanent Full-Time Position (40 hours per week)

Schedule:

Thursday–Saturday (1500-2300), Sunday–Monday (0700-1500).

Compensation & Benefits:

- Starting wage: $21.19 per hour
- Annual wage review and potential increase based on performance




- Cost-shared health and dental benefits after successful completion of the probationary period
- Six flex days after three months of employment
- Mileage reimbursement at $0.50/km for approved work-related driving

Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in Human Services, Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Criminal Justice, Education, Addictions Studies, or a related field (equivalent education and experience may be considered; internationally completed programs may require WES or IQAS assessment).
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- Intermediate computer and administrative skills.
- Ability to provide medical, technological, environmental, physical, and behavioural support.
- Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR certification (minimum Level A).

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of non-verbal communication strategies.
- Experience administering medications.
- One to two years of experience in the human services field.
- Training in areas such as:
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol (APRP)
- Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS)

Successful candidates must be willing to complete any required agency training upon hire, including personal care, medication administration, behavioural support training, lifting and transferring procedures, and other role-specific training as required.
