Kyah Resources Inc. is seeking an experienced CPA to join our team as Controller. This is a key finance and management role supporting a growing, project-based Indigenous business with operations in forestry, heavy construction and major infrastructure work.
Kyah Resources is an equal partnership between Witset First Nation and the Roga Group. Since 2014, Kyah has delivered timber harvesting, heavy construction and project services across northern British Columbia. The Controller will provide financial reporting and forecasting, support operational decisions and provide explicit, reliable information to management and shareholders.
The Opportunity
Reporting to senior leadership and working closely with operations and administration, the Controller will oversee Kyah's day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be practical, responsive and comfortable working in a fast-moving project environment where accurate job costing and timely information matter.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, working papers and adjusting entries.
· Manage or oversee payroll, subcontractor payments, invoicing, accounts receivable and cash-flow reporting.
· Work closely with operations leaders on project accounting, job costing, forecasts and variance analysis.
· Maintain the integrity of financial and operational data, including equipment and intercompany activity.
· Prepare budgets, forecasts, management reports and ad hoc analysis to support decisions.
· Improve accounting processes,
controls and reporting efficiencies.
· Liaise with external auditors and support year-end requirements.
· Support, train and mentor accounting and administrative team members.
· Assist with accounting-system improvements and implementation as required.
Qualifications
· Must possess a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation in good standing.
· Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, internal controls and financial analysis.
· Experience with project, cost or job accounting; forestry, construction or heavy-equipment experience is an asset.
· Strong organization, judgment and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
· A team-oriented, hands-on approach and willingness to support both the accounting and operations teams.
