Club Atwater is looking for a reliable, skilled, and adaptable Cook to join our culinary team.
This is a outstanding opportunity for a cook who enjoys variety and wants to be part of both our day-to-day kitchen operations and our busy events program. The successful candidate will work regular part-time shifts within General Operations while also supporting weddings, private functions, banquets, and other special events when additional culinary staff are required.
We are looking for someone who can step into different kitchen environments, work well with the team, and maintain consistent standards of quality, organization, and professionalism.
RESPONSIBILITIES General Operations
- Prepare and cook food according to Club Atwater recipes, standards, and production requirements.
- Assist with daily breakfast, brunch, lunch, and other food-service operations as required.
- Complete food preparation, mise en place, cooking, plating, and service duties.
- Work across different kitchen stations as required by the operation.
- Maintain proper portioning, presentation, quality, and consistency.
- Follow recipes, production sheets, prep lists, and instructions from the culinary leadership team.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food products when required.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Communicate shortages, quality concerns, equipment issues, or other operational problems to the appropriate supervisor.
Events
- Support the culinary team during weddings, banquets, private functions, corporate events, and other special events.
- Assist with event preparation, including advance preparation, mise en place, plating,
buffet setup, stations, and service.
- Work efficiently during high-volume service while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Follow event-specific menus, service timelines, recipes, and instructions.
- Work closely with the Events Sous Chef, Executive Chef, and other members of the culinary team.
- Assist with event breakdown, food storage, and kitchen organization following service.
- Be prepared to work different stations depending on the needs of each event.
- Maintain a professional and team-oriented attitude during busy and time-sensitive services.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel, private club, catering, or event environment.
- Strong basic culinary skills and understanding of professional kitchen operations.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working at different stations and adapting to changing operational needs.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and direction consistently.
- Strong sense of cleanliness and food safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional attitude and respectful communication with colleagues.
- Ability to remain calm and organized during busy services.
AVAILABILITY Flexibility is an important part of this position.
The successful candidate should be available for a combination of:
- Weekday and/or weekend General Operations shifts.
- Evening shifts when required.
- Weddings, banquets, and private events.
- Occasional extended or event-specific shifts.
- Additional shifts when operational needs require extra culinary support.
Event availability is particularly important, as the position is intended to provide additional culinary support during periods of higher event volume.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous professional kitchen experience required.
- Food-handler certification / MAPAQ training is an asset.
- Ability to work safely with commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding kitchen duties.
- Ability to lift and carry kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and event dates when scheduled.
