Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Controller to lead our financial operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing compliance, and supporting strategic planning. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in accounting and financial management to drive efficiency and accuracy in the company across different locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting activities across the general ledger, ensuring accurate records and timely completion of month-end and year-end close cycles
- Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and collection efforts to maintain robust cash flow and reliable financial reporting
- Manage project-based financial tracking, including job costing, work-in-progress analysis, and profitability reporting across multiple assignments
- Prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and performance analyses to support business planning and decision-making
- Oversee payroll administration and monitor cash management activities, internal controls, and compliance with financial policies
- Act as the finance lead for the selection, setup, data conversion, and launch of a new project accounting or ERP platform
- Work closely with project managers and firm leadership to review project budgets, billing status, margins, and other operational financial metrics
- Coordinate year-end audit preparation, tax support, and communication with external accounting advisors or service providers
- Administer multi-entity accounting and intercompany processes, including consolidations, entity-level reporting, and documentation that supports a controlled National structure
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial procedures, improve reporting accuracy, and increase the efficiency of accounting operations
- Support, guide, and coach the team by sharing knowledge, setting clear expectations, and encouraging a high-performance, collaborative culture
- Contribute to strategic and cross-functional initiatives as a financial advisor to ownership and senior leadership
- Maintain productive relationships with external advisors, banking partners, external auditors and other service providers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- At least 10 years of proven experience in Canadian accounting management within a manufacturing or industrial environment, including leadership reponsability within a Controller or similar senior finance role
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and budgeting processes
- Demonstrated involvement in implementing or upgrading an accounting, ERP, or project financial system, including configuration, migration, or user adoption support
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet analysis, and financial reporting tools, including advanced Excel capabilities
- Extensive knowledge of account reconciliation, account analysis, and financial reporting standards
- Excellent ability to analyze financial information, prepare ad hoc reports, and communicate recommendations clearly to leadership
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines
- Excellent communication and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
