BC Cancer Foundation

Vancouver

The BC Cancer Foundation is at the forefront of a transformative era in cancer research and care.

As the fundraising partner of BC Cancer, we are driving bold initiatives that inspire hope and save lives. Cancer is the largest health challenge globally, and we are mobilizing communities, partners and collaborators across British Columbia to accelerate wide-impact solutions.

With a team of over 90 staff across five sites, more than $110 million in annual revenue, and over 80,000 donors annually, we are one of the province's largest non-profit organizations. We have a purpose-driven, high-performing culture – fuelled by talent, data and technology to accelerate progress and shape the future of cancer care.

About the Opportunity:

This is a hybrid role combining hands-on donor database operations with reporting and analytics as we modernize our data platform and retire legacy manual reporting.

You will be responsible for donor database operations, data quality, and reporting processes while owning and maintaining Power Bl reports and dashboards that support fundraising operations and decision-making. Prior experience with every tool in our stack is not required; however, a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new tools is important.

Reporting to the Senior Donor Database Manager, key responsibilities of the Data & Reporting Specialist will include:

Donor Database Operations & Data Integrity

- Own and execute recurring data processes including complex queries, exports, imports, global adds and global changes, mass data maintenance, scheduled queue functions, and import mappings using Omatic Cloud.
- Deliver ad hoc data extractions, donor lists and segmentation for various teams across the organization.
- Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data in Raisers Edge NXT by performing audits, validation, cleansing, deduplication, data maintenance, and implementing data quality improvements.
- Document database processes, procedures and standards, maintaining a written runbook for every recurring process the role owns, and support users with database questions and data entry standards.

Reporting, Dashboards & Analytics

- Own an assigned portfolio of Power Bl reports and dashboards, including enhancements, monitoring, maintenance, issue resolution, and user support.
- Design and build new dashboards from business requirements, including data modelling and DAX measures.
- Support the migration of legacy Tableau and static PDF reports into Power Bl, while maintaining legacy reporting through the transition.
- Integrate and transform data from diverse sources using Power Query and advanced Excel to ensure smooth data flow and consistency.
- Maintain reporting solutions and support reporting standards and best practices.

Data Quality, Governance & Continuous Improvement

- Act as a data steward for assigned data domains, accountable for their definitions, business rules and quality.
- Contribute to the definition, monitoring and reporting of our Data Quality Index (DOI),

and automate recurring audits and exception reporting.
- Handle donor data in line with BCCF's privacy policy.

Automation & Platform Enablement

- Identify and eliminate manual, repetitive data handling using Power Automate, Power Query, Power Apps and scheduled processes.
- Participate in platform enhancements, integrations, testing, and implementation activities.
- Use Al-assisted tooling such as Microsoft Copilot where it safely improves routine work, with sound judgement about data handling.

Stakeholder Support, Training & Adoption

- Collaborate with stakeholders across various teams to understand their information and reporting needs and recommend solutions that support decision-making.
- Support our Power Bl Community of Practice and promote user adoption through training, documentation, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Coach end users on navigating and interpreting dashboards, and capture feedback and enhancement requests to help prioritize the backlog.

Qualifications:

- Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in information systems, computer science, data, business analytics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in database support, data operations, reporting or analytics, preferably in a fundraising or non-profit environment of similar scope and complexity.
- Demonstrated experience administering or supporting a constituent, donor or customer CRM. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge is strongly preferred; comparable platforms (Salesforce NPSP) will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production Power Bl reports.
- Demonstrated care and discipline working in a live production data environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Onelake, or exposure to lakehouse and multi-layer (bronze/silver/gold) data architecture is a strong asset.
- Experience with Omatic Cloud, lmport-O-Matic, the Blackbaud SKY API, and data governance practices is an asset.
- Relevant certification such as Microsoft PL-300 or DP-600, or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT credentials, is an asset.

Core Competencies:

- Proficiency maintaining donor databases - queries, exports, imports, global adds and updates, and scheduled queue functions.
- Robust query skills (SOL or equivalent), advanced Excel, and Power Query.
- Keen attention to detail and knowledge of data quality control techniques - validation, cleansing and auditing - to maintain high data accuracy and integrity.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the patience to support colleagues of varying comfort with data.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and put forward recommendations for process improvement.
- Proven commitment and ability to stay current with emerging technologies and independently put new tools or techniques into practice.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with tight timelines and competing priorities.
