Ocean Capital has an immediate opening for a Director – Marketing. Reporting to the Senior Vice President- Direct Investments, President- Skyline Holdings, this role is responsible for identifying, developing, and leading technology-enabled growth initiatives that enhance customer experience, accelerate revenue growth, and strengthen competitive advantage across PetroService and Kennedy.
Working across both organizations, the Director will champion digital customer engagement, e-commerce, commercial technology, data analytics, and artificial intelligence initiatives. The role serves as a strategic business leader and catalyst for change, partnering closely with each company's leadership, sales, marketing, and IT teams to develop and execute initiatives that create measurable business value.
Responsibilities Digital Growth Strategy
- Develop and maintain a multi-year digital growth roadmap for PetroService and Kennedy which identifies the key priorities to be pursued by, identifying technology-enabled opportunities to increase revenue, improve customer retention, and strengthen competitive positioning.
- Assess emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive developments relevant to industrial distribution and energy services.
- Conduct market research with customers and benchmark best practices across leading North American distributors and service organizations.
Customer Experience And Digital Engagement
- Lead the development of customer-focused digital strategies across both organizations. Identify opportunities to improve how customers engage with the businesses throughout the sales, service,
and support lifecycle, including:
- Developing strategies for customer portals, self-service capabilities, online service requests, digital quoting, and related customer experience initiatives.
- Recommend improvements that increase customer satisfaction, loyalty, and ease of doing business.
- Collaborate with operating company leadership to prioritize customer experience initiatives.
E-Commerce Leadership
- Lead the evaluation of a North American e-commerce strategy, and if viable, lead the development and implementation of that strategy.
Commercial Technology and Revenue Enablement
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to identify opportunities to improve commercial effectiveness through technology, including:
- Evaluating CRM capabilities and recommending enhancements that improve customer relationship management and sales productivity;
- Supporting the development of customer segmentation, lead management, and customer analytics capabilities;
- Identifying opportunities to leverage data for pricing, customer retention, cross-selling, and account management.
- Facilitate adoption of digital tools that improve customer engagement and commercial performance.
- Work with operating company teams to establish common reporting and performance measurement practices where appropriate.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Enablement
- Identify practical applications of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics that can improve business performance in marketing, sales and commercial management.
- Develop and prioritize AI pilot programs based on business impact and feasibility.
- Promote data-driven decision-making and analytics capabilities throughout the sales and marketing organization.
- Partner with IT and business leaders to improve access to meaningful operational and customer insights. Monitor emerging AI technologies and assess their applicability to the business.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead cross-company project teams focused on digital growth initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with operating company leadership teams and Ocean Capital.
- Facilitate collaboration between business functions, including sales, marketing, operations, finance, and IT.
- Coordinate external consultants, technology vendors, and implementation partners when required.
- Present recommendations and progress updates to senior leadership.
- Champion organizational adoption of new digital capabilities and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, Commerce, Engineering, or related discipline.
- MBA or equivalent business education would be considered an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in digital strategy, commercial/marketing leadership, e-commerce, business transformation, customer experience, or related fields.
- Experience within industrial distribution, technical products, field service, construction services, energy services, manufacturing, or related B2B industries strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives without direct reporting authority.
- Experience evaluating and implementing customer-facing technology solutions.
- Experience developing business cases and executing strategic growth initiatives.
