Director of Sales

CFR Chemicals Inc. is a chemical distribution company, celebrating its 30th year of business, that is committed to safety and serving our business partners. We are looking for an energetic, forward-thinking, problem-solving leader who thrives in a dynamic work environment.

The Director of Sales is a strategic, commercially driven leader responsible for the organization’s sales, revenue, profitability, market growth, and key customer relationships. The role leads the sales organization, develops short-term and long-term growth strategies, and ensures commercial objectives are aligned with supply, inventory, operations, logistics, financial goals, and customer service objectives.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can build high performing teams, strengthen strategic relationships, identify new markets and customers, expand territories, optimize purchasing and product mix, and deliver sustainable profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Business Growth includes leading and developing the sales organization, establishing clear objectives, setting accountability, and fostering a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement

- Develop and execute short-term and long-term business and sales strategies aligned with company objectives to achieve mutually agreed upon metrics
- Develop annual budgets and long-term business growth plans
- Establish sales, revenue, volume, profitability, and growth objectives
- Provide leadership across Sales, Supply Chain, Inventory, Operations, and Logistics to ensure the business is aligned around customer and growth requirements




- Identify opportunities to improve business performance and organizational effectiveness

- Drive profitable growth across existing customers, products, territories, and channels
- Identify opportunities to develop new customers, new markets, new territories
- Manage pricing, product mix, margins, and commercial terms to support revenue and profitability
- Monitor business performance against financial and growth objectives and act where required

Application of Market Knowledge

- Monitor and analyze market trends, customer needs, and industry developments to identify business opportunities and risks
- Use market knowledge to guide sales, purchasing, inventory to value-added decisions
- Demonstrate and apply understanding of petrochemical and energy industry value chains, product applications, feedstocks, economic conditions, transportation trends, and relevant downstream markets to budget formation and managing ongoing sales and forecasts

Customer & Strategic Relationships
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, and industry partners
- Lead major customer negotiations, contracts, pricing discussions, and strategic opportunities
- Ensure customer and market feedback is communicated throughout the organization




- Resolve customer and commercial issues while protecting long-term business relationships and value

Manage Demand and Supply Chain
- Provide direction on purchasing, product availability, inventory levels, product mix, and supplier relationships
- Supervise and lead Supply Chain personnel to achieve operational excellence
- Strengthen communication, coordination, and execution amongst customer demand forecasts, Sales, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Inventory, Operations, and Logistics
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory management, service, and margins
- Understand railcar logistics, regulatory requirements, and build solid working relationships with rail and logistics partners

Team Development

- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing sales team
- Establish clear individual and team expectations and provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and development
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, customer focus, teamwork, and results

Requirements

· University degree in business, supply management, industrial engineering, economics, or relevant experience

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Proven experience in leading, making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, and translating market dynamics into successful outcomes

· Excellent communication skills and ability to progress long term relationships

· Proven negotiation skills

· Strong understanding of petrochemical markets, experience in energy service industry, product applications, supply and demand dynamics, and rail-based transportation logistics are all assets
