Important: This is an independent contractor position. Income tax, CPP, and EI will not be deducted from payments. The successful applicant is responsible for tracking and reporting their income and managing their own taxes and deductions to the CRA.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to empower individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support, fostering a secure and positive environment that promotes growth, confidence, and well-being. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help clients achieve their goals while ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.

Schedule & Commitment

We are looking to build a small team of support workers who can provide consistent coverage throughout the week.

Available shifts may include

- Weekdays: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- A couple of evenings per week
- Every other weekend

Applicants do not need to be available for every shift or every day. However, we are looking for a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week and reliable, consistent availability. When applying, please include your typical weekly availability and which days/times you would be able to commit to on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility support.
- Implement tailored care plans that meet each person’s unique needs and preferences.
- Use effective communication skills to engage with clients, families, and team members, including proficiency in American Sign Language if applicable.




- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and safety protocols.
- Support clients in participating in community activities, social outings, and skill-building exercises.
- Monitor clients’ health status, report changes promptly, and document care activities thoroughly.
- Foster a respectful, encouraging environment that promotes independence and self-esteem.

Experience

- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education principles or experience supporting individuals with diverse learning needs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and convey information clearly.
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and safety standards.
- Experience utilizing American Sign Language or other communication aids is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and adaptability in caregiving settings.
