Summary The Engineering Project Manager leads manufacturing engineering projects at Gnutti Carlo Canada, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role owns projects from initial technical scoping and requirement definition through to successful program launch, coordinating documentation, budgets, timelines, and risk management while maintaining close communication with Customers, Suppliers, and the Management Team.
The role may also support new product development activities and divisional projects, which may include travel outside of Canada.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and manage program documentation, including technical reports and project summaries.
- Identify resources required to complete projects, including technical scopes of work, development of requirement specifications, and obtaining quotations from vendors.
- Communicate with the Management Team to address potential risks.
- Solve problems and resolve issues that arise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track project and program progress against timelines and milestones.
- Strategize and outline the goals and objectives of each project.
- Evaluate and supervise multiple projects concurrently.
- Lead and mentor project staff and team members.
- Set objectives to maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Prepare and present progress and budget reports to the Engineering team.
- Assist with new product development activities, from quotation through to successful program launch.
- Support divisional projects, which may include travel outside of Canada.
- Interpret customer drawings and specifications to determine requirements that meet customer expectations.
- Maintain customer communications and clearly translate customer requirements to the Engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering field, or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing standards and frameworks, including ISO/TS 16949, IATF, VDA, ISO 9001, PPAP, FMEA, and APQP, along with project management tools and techniques.
- Experience managing manufacturing engineering projects in a setting that includes High Pressure Die Casting, CNC equipment, automation, and assembly systems.
- Functional knowledge of GD&T; and drawing interpretation.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Strong technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- P. Eng designation is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 1–3 years of office experience in a manufacturing environment.
