The Township of St. Clair is seeking a motivated individual for a permanent full time Engineering Technologist position within the Public Works / Engineering Department.
Working under the direction of the Coordinator of Engineering, this position is responsible for supporting the review, approval and inspection of development and capital works related to subdivision, highway, pipeline and utility construction. The scope of work will also require that the Engineering Technologist support industrial development and planning applications. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, some of the following: operating the CAD system and preparing technical documents, preliminary field surveys, field inspections, ensuring contractor adherence to regulations and municipal policy, maintenance of technical records and supporting technical studies.
Lastly, the successful incumbent will perform miscellaneous assignments as directed.
Education and Qualifications:
Required qualifications and experience will include a post-secondary diploma from a recognized college in the Engineering Technology field (3-year program) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A Class 1 Water Distribution System Operator License is also required with course knowledge related to road, sewer and watermain inspection, and design courses. The successful incumbent must also be a member, or remain eligible to become a member,
of the OACETT (Certified Engineering Technician, preferably Civil).
Lastly, experience related to infrastructure management, modeling, CAD, word processing, spreadsheet and database is required.
This position is for an existing vacancy within the Township of St. Clair. Compensation will be in accordance with OPSEU Local 123 Collective Agreement. The rate of pay will range from $36.62 – $44.14 per hour and the successful candidate will assume a 35-hour work week. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
