Big Rock Excavating is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. We specialize in residential excavation and site development, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and knows how to operate equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately.

The Position The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment on residential excavation projects, including:

- Excavators
- Dozers
- Graders
- Backhoe loaders
- Skid steers
- Other equipment as required

Work may include residential excavation, foundation and basement excavation, backfilling, grading, landscaping preparation, site preparation, loading, and general excavation work.

What We're Looking For

- Minimum 4 years of experience in the excavation/heavy equipment industry
- Strong operating experience with multiple types of heavy equipment
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently around residential properties, existing structures, utilities, and other site hazards
- Ability to accurately follow grades, plans, and site instructions
- Positive understanding of excavation and residential construction practices




- Able to perform daily equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety issues
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Able to work independently and as part of a crew
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence is an asset
- Ground Disturbance training and other relevant safety certifications are an asset
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to and from job sites

Responsibilities
- Safely operate excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, skid steers, and other equipment
- Complete residential excavation and site preparation work
- Excavate foundations, basements, trenches, and other areas as required
- Perform grading, backfilling, and final site preparation
- Work safely around underground utilities and existing structures
- Complete daily equipment inspections
- Report equipment maintenance or repair requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow company safety procedures and job-site requirements
- Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 – 60.0 per week
