Qualifications

MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:

- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline such as Social Justice, Education, Public Administration, Human Rights, Health Sciences, Public Health, Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Community Development, Equity Studies, or a related field mandatory.
- Masters degree in relevant discipline preferred.
- Knowledge of university regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program.

EXPERIENCE:

- Four years of directly-related administrative experience is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, accessibility, social justice, community engagement, policy development, organizational change, or a related field.
- Knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-racism, decolonization, reconciliation, Indigenous health, restorative practices, and human rights principles.
- Experience researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, frameworks, and initiatives related to equity, social justice, accessibility, anti-racism, and inclusion.
- Designing, developing, facilitating, and evaluating educational programs, workshops, training sessions, and learning resources for diverse audiences experience an asset.
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, environmental scans, program evaluations, and data analysis, with demonstrated ability to translate findings into recommendations and action plans.
- Experience in projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and evaluating conferences, workshops, community engagement activities, and public events.
- Experience preparing reports, toolkits, policy briefs, presentations, communications materials, and resource guides for leadership and stakeholder audiences.
- Experience working within a complex public-sector, healthcare, post-secondary, or community-based environment is strongly preferred.
- Specialized training in equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, accessibility, restorative practices, program evaluation, adult education, project management, or facilitation is considered an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and develop practical recommendations for senior leaders is required.
- Facilitation, public speaking, and presentation skills is required.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and political acuity is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders is required.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative evaluation skills, including survey design, data analysis, and outcome measurement is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, virtual learning platforms, website content management systems, and survey/evaluation tools is required.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

Key responsibilities

Policy Development, Review & Recommendations:

- Leads ongoing review of existing RFHS equity-related policies, procedures, and frameworks and develops written recommendations for the Director regarding updates, gaps, or recent directions.
- Independently researches emerging best practices, legislative developments, and sector trends in equity and social justice, and synthesizes findings into actionable policy briefs and program recommendations for senior leadership consideration.
- Develops and refines equity frameworks, toolkits, and resource guides that are adopted across RFHS units, including materials addressing ableism, anti-racism, transphobia, homophobia, and other forms of systemic discrimination.
- Participates in university-level policy committees and working groups as an informed representative of the EAP office, contributing substantive equity and social justice expertise to policy discussions and decision-making processes.
- Monitors and interprets regulations, policies, and emerging obligations as they relate to equity, access, and human rights, advising the Director on implications for RFHS programs and operations.

Training & Toolkit Development and Delivery:

- Independently designs, develops, and delivers educational programs, workshops, and training sessions on EAP topics for learners, faculty, and staff across RFHS, drawing on current evidence and pedagogical best practices.
- Develops culturally appropriate and accessible training materials including toolkits, facilitator guides, online modules, and multimedia resources, ensuring content reflects equity-focused social justice values and meets the needs of diverse audiences.
- Conducts the review and ongoing improvement of existing trainings (e.g., anti-bias training, MMI evaluation support, online learning content), incorporating participant feedback and updated evidence to maintain quality and relevance.
- Evaluates training effectiveness through participant feedback, pre/post assessments, and outcome tracking, and uses this data to continuously refine and strengthen program offerings.
- Manages the EAP website and content library including physical materials, digital platforms, and online repositories, ensuring all resources are current, accessible, and consistently organized.
- Works collaboratively alongside the Offices of Anti-Racism and Community Engagement partnering on or supporting projects, events and initiatives creating equitable, accessible, and inclusive environments across RFHS.

Project Coordination & Program Management:

- Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of EAP projects and initiatives from inception to completion, operating independently under broad strategic direction from the Director.
- Develops and manages detailed project work plans, timelines, budgets (up to $10,000), deliverables, and resource requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Prepares substantive project reports, briefings, and presentations for the Director and senior leadership, summarizing progress, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Designs and administers program evaluation activities including surveys, focus groups, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis, producing reports that inform future program planning.




- Establishes and maintains dashboards and tracking systems that monitor equity metrics, program outcomes, event participation, and policy implementation progress across RFHS.

Event Planning, Organization & Leadership:

- Plans, organizes, and leads the execution of a range of Social Justice and Anti-Racism events including conferences, symposia, workshops, awareness campaigns, and training sessions, managing all logistical, financial, and communications aspects within approved budgets.
- Develops event timelines, engagement strategies, and communications plans; secures speakers and facilitators; coordinates venue, catering, technology, and volunteer requirements.
- Manages event platforms and leads content creation for event promotion across newsletters, social media, and the RFHS and/or EAP website.
- Tracks attendance, gathers and analyzes post-event feedback, and prepares evaluation summaries that inform future event planning and contribute to EAP reporting obligations.

Stakeholder Representation & Community Engagement:

- Represents the Director and the EAP office at university committees, working groups, symposia, and community partner meetings, contributing with authority on equity and social justice matters and reporting outcomes back to the Director.
- Builds and sustains collaborative relationships with internal RFHS units, Ongomiizwin, student groups, and external health, education, and social sector organizations to advance community-identified equity priorities.
- Leads communication and reciprocal knowledge-sharing between the EAP office and its stakeholders, ensuring consistent, values-aligned messaging across all channels including newsletters, social media, and the RFHS website.

Research, Analysis & Strategic Support:

- Conducts independent research on best practices, emerging trends, and evidence-based approaches, synthesizing findings into recommendations that inform EAP strategy and program development.
- Designs and applies evaluation tools that incorporate both qualitative and quantitative equity measures, supporting evidence-based decision-making across the EAP portfolio.
- Compiles and analyzes equity and inclusion data for internal and faculty-wide reporting, contributing to the EAP office's accountability and transparency obligations.
- Supports the implementation of strategic initiatives including Indigenous health programs, equity pathway programs (e.g., ACCESS Pathway), and inclusive admissions processes, coordinating activities and communications across relevant RFHS units.
- Collaborates with designates from the Offices of Anti-Racism and Community Engagement to jointly develop impact reports that measure and communicate the outcomes of shared initiatives, projects, and events undertaken by the three social justice and anti-racism offices.
- Contributes to the development and operationalization of restorative practices frameworks, supporting the integration of restorative principles into RFHS policies, procedures, and processes.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
