About Us
Alivio Downsizing helps seniors, families, executors, and professionals navigate downsizing, estate clearing, and major home transitions. We provide hands-on, full-service support to ensure household contents are carefully assessed, organized, and directed appropriately for auction, donation, relocation, or disposal.
Our work requires compassion, efficiency, excellent organization, and strong attention to detail.
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Estate & Downsizing Sorter to join our GTA team.
This is a hands-on role involving the evaluation, organization, sorting, and preparation of household contents, including everyday household goods, antiques, collectibles, furniture, décor, and personal belongings.
You do not need to be an antiques expert or have previous auction experience. We can train the right person. What is much more significant is having a natural eye for detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions, good judgment, and the ability to work efficiently.
This position will also include a backup logistics component as needed. When supporting our primary Logistics Coordinator, responsibilities may include transporting materials and supplies to and from client properties, ensuring teams have the materials required for scheduled projects, and occasionally sourcing or purchasing supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and sort household contents for auction, donation, relocation, recycling, or disposal.
- Identify items that may have resale value rather than assuming something should be discarded.
- Organize belongings systematically according to project instructions.
- Prepare items for online auction, including grouping items into lots, photographing, cataloguing through a smartphone app, writing basic descriptions, and presenting items appropriately.
- Prepare and organize items for donation and disposal.
- Follow detailed project instructions and client-specific requirements accurately.
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Handle clients' belongings with care and respect.
- Assist with transportation, sourcing, and organization of project materials when providing backup logistics support.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude in clients' homes and with fellow team members.
Qualifications & Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and robust organizational skills.
- Ability to listen carefully, retain detailed instructions, and execute them accurately.
- Reliable and punctual — our teams work on strict project schedules.
- Comfortable using a smartphone and learning new apps.
- Able to make practical decisions while knowing when to ask for clarification.
- Physically capable of being on your feet for extended periods and lifting, moving, and organizing household items.
- Professional, adaptable, respectful, and comfortable working in a variety of home environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of antiques, collectibles, resale, auctions, estate contents, or second-hand goods is an asset, but not required.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable access, particularly for the logistics component of the position.
- Must be comfortable travelling to job sites throughout The GTA.
Why Join Alivio? This isn't simply organizing people's belongings. Our team helps families through significant and sometimes emotional life transitions.
You'll be doing meaningful, wide-ranging work where attention to detail and good judgment genuinely matter. You'll work alongside a supportive team and receive training in our downsizing, and estate clearing processes.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Application question(s)
- Can you reliably show up to work 10 min before your shift starts to get settled?
- Would you pass a criminal and vulnerability screening?
Work Location: In person
