It brings together electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft systems, new infrastructure, digital technologies, and evolving operational models. In practical terms, AAM represents the next evolution of aviation, building on Canada’s existing aviation infrastructure to bring new use cases to life.

CAAM is Canada’s national industry association for Advanced Air Mobility. We bring together organizations from across government, industry, academia, airports, operators, manufacturers, technology developers, Indigenous communities, and regional economic development organizations to help prepare Canada for commercial operations.

Our work focuses on turning emerging technologies into protected, practical, and scalable operations. This includes supporting regulatory coordination, infrastructure planning, regional connectivity, aircraft integration, workforce development, investment, research, and collaboration across the Canadian and international ecosystem.

About the Job

Lead Canada’s national industry association for Advanced Air Mobility during a pivotal period for the aviation and aerospace sector.

As Executive Director, you will work with CAAM National Board, CAAM team, CAAM members, government partners, and the broader aerospace ecosystem to advance the operationalization of AAM across Canada. You will translate CAAM’s national vision into practical programs, partnerships, policies, and initiatives that prepare the country for new aircraft, technologies, infrastructure, and operations.

You will represent CAAM with senior leaders from airports, operators, manufacturers, technology companies, government agencies, academic institutions, Indigenous communities, regional organizations, and international partners.

You will serve as a trusted national voice for the sector while creating opportunities for the organizations and communities helping build Canada’s AAM market.

Your role:

Reporting to CAAM National Board, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic, financial, operational, and organizational leadership of CAAM.

You will lead the organization’s next stage of development, building on CAAM’s existing national relationships and programs while strengthening its long-term sustainability, member value, and measurable industry impact.

As CAAM’s senior leader and primary external representative, you will be responsible for establishing priorities, maintaining organizational alignment, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring that commitments move from discussion into action. You will balance long-term vision with hands-on execution in a small, fast-moving national organization.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership

- Work with CAAM National Board to establish and deliver CAAM’s strategic direction, annual priorities, and measures of success.
- Translate Canada’s emerging AAM opportunities and challenges into clear organizational priorities and actionable programs.
- Monitor developments across aviation, aerospace, energy, infrastructure, defence, technology, and public policy that may affect Canada’s AAM ecosystem.
- Identify emerging opportunities, risks, partnerships, and areas where CAAM can provide national leadership.




- Maintain focus across multiple priorities while ensuring that resources are directed toward the organization’s greatest areas of impact.

Government and Industry Relations

- Serve as CAAM’s principal representative with federal, provincial, territorial, municipal, Indigenous, and international partners.
- Maintain trusted relationships with Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, National Research Council Canada, Department of National Defence, and other government organizations.
- Support alignment among regulators, operators, manufacturers, airports, communities, researchers, investors, and technology developers.
- Advocate for policies, regulations, infrastructure, and investments that support the safe and responsible operationalization of AAM in Canada.
- Represent CAAM at conferences, government meetings, industry roundtables, media engagements, and international forums.
- Strengthen CAAM’s collaboration with international AAM organizations and help position Canada within the global ecosystem.

National Board and Governance

- Work closely with CAAM National Board to support effective governance, oversight, and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare clear and timely updates on CAAM’s financial, operational, and strategic performance.
- Support quarterly Board meetings, annual planning, risk management, policy development, and the completion of Board-directed action items.
- Maintain transparent communication with Board members and ensure they are meaningfully engaged in advancing CAAM’s priorities.
- Ensure CAAM continues to meet its legal, financial, contractual, and federal not-for-profit obligations.

Membership and Business Development

- Strengthen the value CAAM provides to its members and ensure that member priorities inform the organization’s work.
- Build and maintain relationships with current members, prospective members, strategic partners, and sponsors.
- Lead membership recruitment, renewal, sponsorship, and partnership-development efforts.
- Develop sustainable and diversified revenue opportunities that support CAAM’s long-term growth.
- Create meaningful opportunities for members to participate in programs, delegations, government engagement, events, and national initiatives.
- Ensure members receive consistent communication, engagement, and measurable value from their involvement with CAAM.

Financial and Organizational Management

- Maintain responsibility for CAAM’s financial sustainability, annual budget, cash flow, contracts, reporting, and organizational risk.
- Work with CAAM National Board to establish financial targets and ensure responsible stewardship of the organization’s resources.
- Identify and secure funding through memberships, partnerships, sponsorships, government programs, grants, contracts, and other appropriate sources.
- Ensure that funded projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, budgets, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain effective internal systems, policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms.
- Oversee external suppliers, contractors, consultants, and professional service providers.

Programs and Partnerships The Executive Director will oversee and continue developing several of CAAM’s key initiatives, including:

- Federal AAM engagement, bringing together Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, federal departments, industry leaders, and other partners to support coordinated national action.
- Provincial AAM Roundtable Series, convening stakeholders across Canada to discuss regional priorities, emerging projects, operational challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
- IRAP-supported programming, helping Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises strengthen their organizations through curated access to subject-matter experts, regulators, industry leaders, and business-development resources.
- CanExport delegation programs, connecting Canadian organizations with international industry events, business-development meetings, technical site visits, and global partners.
- ICAO and international engagement, supporting Canada’s participation in global AAM conversations and creating international opportunities for CAAM members.
- Member services and ecosystem development,



ensuring that CAAM’s programs respond to the practical needs of organizations working to operationalize AAM.
- Communications and thought leadership, including CAAM’s newsletter, events, speaking engagements, digital platforms, research, and public-facing initiatives.

What You Bring We recognize that strong leaders can come from many professional backgrounds. Candidates do not need to meet every qualification to be considered.

- Senior leadership experience within aviation, aerospace, transportation, government, technology, economic development, an industry association, or another complex stakeholder environment.
- Experience leading an organization, business unit, national program, or major cross-functional initiative.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian aviation and aerospace ecosystem, or the ability to quickly develop that understanding.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with government, industry, senior executives, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience with business development, partnerships, membership organizations, sponsorships, grants, or other revenue-generating activities.
- Financial literacy and experience overseeing budgets, contracts, organizational planning, and performance reporting.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors or within a governance environment.
- Strong written communication, public speaking, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a remote environment while travelling within Canada and internationally when required.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
- Knowledge of Advanced Air Mobility, remotely piloted aircraft systems, emerging aircraft technologies, aviation regulation, infrastructure, or clean aviation is an asset.
