We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our collaborative team. Rooted in family support principles and a deep respect for the inherent capabilities of every child and parent, you will provide essential, strengths-based support to families navigating the early years. This role features a strong focus on comprehensive perinatal care, including birth and postpartum doula services and childbirth education, recognizing the critical importance of these foundational life transitions.

Your work will play a crucial part in enhancing the well-being of families, empowering parents, and fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment for co-learning and development.

Duties

- Conduct collaborative assessments with families to identify their unique strengths, needs, and aspirations.
- Provide comprehensive perinatal care, including birth and postpartum doula services, offering continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to families following organization-provided training.
- Facilitate evidence-based childbirth education sessions to empower expectant parents with knowledge, resources, and confidence upon completion of certification.
- Deliver a variety of responsive family and children's programs such as Mother Goose and Me, Play Groups, parenting programs, and workshops.
- Co-develop individualized support plans in partnership with families, honouring parents as the primary experts on their children.
- Provide guidance and resources regarding child development, recognizing the community and environment as essential components of health and learning.
- Facilitate communication and build bridges between families and community resources, including schools, healthcare providers, and social services.
- Offer empathetic, non-judgmental emotional support to families facing challenges, ensuring we meet them exactly where they are.
- Monitor shared goals and adjust support plans collaboratively to ensure meaningful and effective outcomes.
- Maintain accurate,



respectful records of interactions and progress to support reflective practice and organizational reporting.
- Participate actively in team meetings and ongoing professional development to continually refine our family-centered practices.

Requirements

- Willingness to complete comprehensive training in Birth and Postpartum Doula care and Childbirth Education (training will be fully provided and supported by the organization).
- Experience working alongside children and families in a supportive, community-based centre or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic, trusting rapport with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on reflective and respectful dialogue.
- Ability to work autonomously while deeply valuing collaborative teamwork.
- Knowledge of local community resources and a commitment to helping families navigate these systems effectively.
- A compassionate demeanor grounded in a genuine desire to empower others and uplift family strengths.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
