Job Overview
Join our agile team as a Fire Alarm Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of commercial and industrial facilities through the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems. Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems by following detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on existing fire alarm equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot system malfunctions using electrical experience, sensors, power tools, and hand tools to identify root causes quickly.
- Test sensors, alarms, control panels, and wiring to verify system integrity and compliance with safety regulations.
- Read and interpret schematics and construction drawings accurately to facilitate precise system installation and upgrades.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly into the project timeline.
- Document all service activities thoroughly in reports and logs for compliance and quality assurance purposes.
Qualifications
- Completion of a college diploma in Fire Protection, Electrical/Electronic,
or equivalent experience, or actively pursuing such qualification.
- Completion of a Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification.
- Demonstrated ability to program basic operations on micro-processor-based systems without supervision.
- Proven experience reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings related to fire alarm or electrical systems.
- Strong electrical background with hands-on experience working with low voltage systems.
- Mechanical knowledge of sensors, control panels, wiring methods, and fire alarm components.
- Basic troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment.
- Familiarity with construction processes and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment used in fire alarm installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to electrical work and fire protection systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently using schematic diagrams and technical manuals.
- Possess a valid Full G driver's license.
