Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport freight over long or short distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and other equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, and load security devices, ensuring everything is in optimal condition.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel to coordinate pickups and deliveries efficiently.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to address minor mechanical issues on the road.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and vehicle inspections for compliance purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid Class 5 or Class 5 with air brakes endorsement
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securing loads on flatbed trailers.
- Familiarity with automotive repair basics to troubleshoot common mechanical issues during trips.
- Prior experience in heavy equipment operation or logistics roles is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
