True North Foods is a mid-size beef slaughtering and packing plant located in Carman, MB, about one hour drive from Winnipeg. We are looking for a Food Safety Officer - JR to work in our highly regulated environment.

Requirements

- Access to a vehicle to drive back and forward from the plant on the assigned shift. Transportation is not provided.
- Preferably lives in Carman, MB or surrounding area. Candidates that match this description will be prioritized.
- Physically fit. Ability to walk the production floors with commanding presence,
- Able to explain procedures and situations at any level of the organization.
- Team Player with attention to detail.
- Flexible and able to quickly adapt to new situation
- Preferably -but not necessarily- applicants have studies in an agriculture related field and some experience in the food industry.

We are willing to train the candidate -independently of their experience or studies- with the right set of skills and attitude for a junior position. As an example, a Food Safety Officer JR will responsible for,

Monitoring

- Critical Control Points (CCP’s).




- Valuable Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s),
- Dressing producers (animal skinning, etc.),

Ensure to:
- Implement and follow through Corrective Actions
- Review Procedures for accuracy and compliance
- CFIA compliance and concerns are attended to.

The above are only examples, other tasks will be assigned upon management decision. This is a job that requires 85-90% of the time to be working on the slaughter or meat packing floor ensuring compliance with programs. The rest of the time would be spent in the office working with computers.

Although 8 hours shifts (Monday to Friday) is the goal, in frequent occasions overtime might be required to finish up the day.
