Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) is a premier co-educational day school nestled in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside of the City of Calgary on a 220+ acre campus. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, STS offers all three IB Programmes from Kindergarten through to Grade 12.

Position Overview
STS is seeking inclusive Guest Education Assistants with cultural competence to provide absence coverage for our Elementary Division. Under the direction and supervision of the Learning Strategist teacher, the Guest Education Assistant provides physical, social, emotional, and learning support to students. The Education Assistant will assist the Learning Strategist in their implementation of program and instructional activities.
Core Areas of Responsibility
· Work with the Learning Strategist to adapt creative learning strategies for young children.
· Modify educational materials to support the goals of the program (i.e., games and activities).
· Work with individual students to help them maintain focus and to remain on task.
· Document and record observations on each student’s progress and learning in the log and communication book.
· Organize program materials and activities.
· Provide Learning Strategist with information and anecdotal notes on student’s progress.
· Attend to the specific needs of each student.
· Provide other support and perform duties as directed by the Head of Elementary.
Qualifications and Experience
· High school Diploma.
· Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma.
· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supporting students in an educational setting.
· Experience as an Education Assistant in an independent school setting, is a strong asset.
· Technologically proficient in a wide range of platforms.
· Strong communication skills.
· Ability to think strategically.
· Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment.
· Flexible, innovative, and a curious learner.
· Ability to work independently and within a team.
· Provide a high standard of qualified performance.
· Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and recognize equity and inclusivity as the foundations to prepare each student for lifelong success.
· Demonstrate and uphold a strong commitment to health and safety.
