The Handyman Calgary is seeking experienced local handymen, renovation contractors and skilled tradespeople for residential and light-commercial repair, maintenance and renovation projects in Fort McMurray.

Choose the opportunities that fit your skills and schedule. We send available project details by text. If you are interested, you contact the customer promptly, review the scope and submit a clear, itemized quote. You may accept or decline each opportunity.

This is independent, project-based subcontracting—not a guaranteed-hour employee position. There is no minimum number of projects.

Project types

Work may include

- General handyman repairs, punch lists and property maintenance
- Drywall installation, patching and repairs
- Interior and exterior painting
- Finish carpentry, doors, trim, baseboards and cabinetry repairs
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Deck, fence, stair and general carpentry work
- Siding, fascia, soffit and eavestrough repairs
- Kitchen, bathroom, basement and small renovation projects
- Rental turnovers and light-commercial maintenance

Electrical, plumbing, gas and other regulated work may only be completed by contractors who hold the licences or certifications required in Alberta.

What you need





- Proven experience in at least one of the project areas above - you do not need to do every type of work
- Your own reliable vehicle, tools and smartphone
- Professional customer communication and dependable follow-through
- Ability to prepare clear quotes that separate labour and materials
- Ability to invoice as an independent contractor
- Any licence or certification legally required for the work you perform

Depending on the project, we may ask for work photos, professional references, liability insurance, WCB information or proof of trade licensing before work begins. You do not need to provide every document with your initial application.

Compensation

You set and submit your price for each project. The advertised CA$40–CA$80 per hour is an estimated labour-value equivalent; actual compensation is agreed per project based on your quote, the scope, materials, licensing and experience. Work may be quoted hourly or at a flat project rate. Hours and projects are not guaranteed.
