Hardwood Floor Refinishing Apprentice / Helper

Ironbark Hardwood Floors is looking for a reliable, motivated apprentice/helper to join our growing team in the Edmonton area.

This is an entry-level, hands-on position for someone who wants to learn the specialized trade of hardwood floor refinishing and installation. Previous flooring or construction experience is an asset, but it is not required. The right person will receive practical, on-the-job training based on nearly 30 years of hardwood flooring experience.

Responsibilities

- Assist with sanding and refinishing hardwood floors
- Prepare floors and jobsites for sanding, staining and finishing
- Assist with floor repairs and hardwood installations
- Perform edging, scraping, detail sanding and other preparation work
- Help apply stains, sealers and finishes under supervision
- Load, unload and move flooring equipment and materials
- Clean and maintain tools, sanding equipment and dust-extraction systems
- Protect clients’ homes and keep jobsites clean and organized
- Follow instructions and established work procedures
- Provide respectful, professional service in clients’ homes

- Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy flooring equipment
- Comfortable with repetitive and physically demanding work
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Respectful of clients, their homes, company tools and equipment
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are strongly preferred
- Flooring, carpentry, painting or construction experience is an asset
