We are seeking an experienced, technically strong, and hands-on Head of Operations to lead and further develop our Canadian processing operations.

Our operations span Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and this position will provide leadership and technical oversight across all three provinces. Regular travel between facilities is expected, with a strong emphasis on being present in the plants, understanding equipment and processes firsthand, and working directly with plant teams to improve performance.

This is not a desk-based operations position. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer and operational leader who understands industrial processing equipment, recycling operations, size-reduction systems, and rubber crumb production, and who is comfortable troubleshooting machinery and developing practical solutions on the plant floor.

The successful candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with operational leadership and a results-oriented mindset. They will be expected to understand not only how the equipment operates, but why it performs the way it does and how it can be made safer, more reliable, productive, and effective.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide overall leadership and technical direction for processing operations across Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
- Work closely with plant managers, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and senior management to achieve operational objectives.
- Provide technical leadership for tire recycling, shredding, granulation, crumb rubber production, material handling, separation, screening, and related processing systems.
- Develop a thorough understanding of machinery, process flows, production constraints, bottlenecks, and equipment capabilities at each facility.
- Drive improvements in throughput, uptime, yield, product quality, labour efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for recurring mechanical, electrical, and process issues.
- Develop and strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance programs across the organization.
- Evaluate machinery modifications, upgrades, replacement equipment, automation, and capital improvement opportunities.
- Work with equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, contractors, fabricators, Millwrights, electricians, and technical suppliers.
- Apply sound mechanical engineering principles to equipment selection, modifications, maintenance, and process optimization.
- Utilize knowledge of electrical systems, controls, motors, drives, PLCs, and industrial automation when evaluating operational issues.
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs for production, downtime, maintenance, labour, quality, and cost.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with financial and administrative leadership to understand operating costs, capital expenditures, budgets, margins, and the financial impact of operational decisions.
- Support annual budgeting and capital planning for machinery, maintenance, infrastructure,

and operational improvements.
- Standardize best practices, procedures, maintenance strategies, and operating standards across facilities.
- Support and promote a strong culture of safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop the capabilities of plant leadership, maintenance teams, and operational personnel.
- Support future facility expansions, equipment installations, commissioning, and implementation of new processing technologies.
- Remain actively involved in day-to-day operational challenges when technical or leadership support is required.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for an experienced engineering and operations professional who combines technical depth, practical plant experience, leadership ability, and a strong drive for continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have:

- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial, manufacturing, processing, recycling, or heavy-equipment operational experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing or providing technical leadership within industrial processing or manufacturing facilities.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, shredders, granulators, screens, material handling systems, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, and related industrial machinery.
- Experience with tire recycling, rubber processing, crumb rubber production, shredding, granulation, or similar size-reduction processes is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of maintenance management, equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Extensive hands-on Millwright experience, a Millwright/Industrial Mechanic background, or a recognized Millwright trade qualification would be highly valued.
- Candidates who combine engineering knowledge with substantial hands-on Millwright or industrial maintenance experience will be particularly well suited for this position.
- Practical understanding of production efficiency, throughput optimization, downtime reduction, quality control, and process improvement.
- Knowledge and practical experience with electrical systems, industrial controls, PLCs, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, and automation are considered significant assets and highly valued.
- Strong project management capabilities, including equipment installation, commissioning, capital projects, and facility improvements.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial information and understand how plant performance affects cost, margin, and profitability.
- Strong leadership, communication,

organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with everyone from plant-floor employees and tradespeople to engineers, suppliers, contractors, and senior management.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between company operations in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
- A valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and ability to travel independently are required.
- Qualified engineering designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration in Canada would be considered an asset.
- Graduate-level education, including a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, would be considered a strong asset.

The Person We Want We are looking for someone who does more than manage production numbers from an office.

You should be naturally curious about machinery, processes, and performance. If a production line is not achieving its expected throughput, you want to understand why. If equipment repeatedly fails, you investigate the root cause rather than repeatedly fixing the symptom. If one facility develops a better solution, you look for opportunities to implement that knowledge across the organization.

We are particularly interested in someone who can bridge the gap between engineering and hands-on industrial maintenance—someone who can analyze a problem from an engineering perspective but is equally comfortable getting onto the plant floor, inspecting equipment, working alongside Millwrights, electricians, operators, and maintenance teams, and developing a practical solution that works.

You should be comfortable walking a production line, examining machinery, reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing production data, talking with operators and tradespeople, and then presenting a clear recommendation to senior management.

We value individuals who take ownership, follow through, solve problems, and combine engineering knowledge with practical common sense.

Leadership & Growth Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take a senior leadership role within a growing Canadian operation and have a direct influence on how our facilities, equipment, processes, and operational teams develop.

The Head of Operations will play an important role in strengthening operational consistency across our three provinces, developing our technical capabilities, improving equipment reliability and productivity, and helping evaluate the technologies and capital investments required for future growth.

We are looking for someone who can bring technical expertise, operational discipline, leadership, and innovation together—and who is equally comfortable developing long-term operational strategy and solving a problem on the plant floor.

If you are an experienced Mechanical Engineer who understands industrial machinery, enjoys solving complex operational problems, takes ownership of results, and wants to directly influence the performance and growth of a multi-site organization, we would like to hear from you.
