G.E.C. is seeking an experienced truck and trailer mechanic who can independently diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty equipment. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, can troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and keeps our fleet and equipment operating safely and efficiently.
This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position, with regular hours of 7: AM – 4:00 PM. Overtime opportunities are available, and travel to field repairs and troubleshooting are a mandatory part of the role.

Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, air brakes, drivetrains, and other mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot, service and repair heavy-duty equipment, medium-duty trucks, hydro vacs, directional drilling equipment, excavators, skid steers, trailers, and similar equipment.
- Use scanning tools, diagnostic equipment, service manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications to identify faults and determine the root cause of equipment failures.
- Perform hydraulic repairs, component rebuilds, welding, metal fabrication, and trailer repairs,
including braking systems and safety-related repairs.
- Complete field and emergency repairs, including travel to equipment requiring troubleshooting or repair.
- Maintain accurate vehicle and equipment maintenance, inspection, and safety records, ensuring equipment meets or exceeds required safety standards.
- Identify, source, and order parts and components, while coordinating availability and pricing with management.
- Prioritize workflow, plan daily repairs, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, repair requirements, equipment condition, and recommendations to management and operators.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following COR and company safety policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- certified heavy-duty mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and repair experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and air brakes.
- Welding experience required; metal fabrication experience is an asset.
- Experience working on semi-trucks, medium-duty trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment such as hydro vacs, directional drills, excavators, and skid steers.
- Experience with diagnostic/scanning tools is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license required but preference given to Class 3 with air brakes.
- Solid knowledge of modern diagnostic technology, repair procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with medium-duty trailer repairs, including safety inspections, braking systems, welding, and metal fabrication.
What Success Looks Like
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair complex equipment issues independently, using strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Identify the root cause of equipment failures and provide effective repair solutions rather than simply replacing parts.
- Minimize equipment downtime through effective preventative maintenance, planning, and timely repairs.
- Communicate clearly with management, maintain accurate records, and provide technical guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices when required.

You should be comfortable working on a wide range of equipment, diagnosing problems that aren't immediately obvious, and making informed decisions about repairs and maintenance.
