Position Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor and the Manager of Housekeeping, the Housekeeper is responsible for carrying out a number of housekeeping services to maintain a clean, sanitary environment for our clients. The Housekeeper also assists with other tasks within the Housekeeping department as requested.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a number of housekeeping duties, including changing bedding, distributing clean linens and towels, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, surface and deep cleaning and ensuring all supplies are re-stocked as needed
- Ensuring all restrooms, bedrooms, public areas, and offices are well-maintained and clean
- Collect and dispose of trash as necessary
- Safely operate laundry machines; check detergent and rinse agent levels
- Sort, pack, unpack and assist in receiving, issuing and transporting supplies; report needed supplies for reorder
- Report equipment malfunctions and repairs needed to the Supervisor
- Handle and report lost and found items
- Communicate with various departments to ensure client’s needs are met
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work workplace by following and enforcing standards and procedures
- Report any and all House Rules infractions and report unattended children
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment for our clients and staff
- Assist with additional tasks as and when needed or assigned by management,
both within and outside roles and departments, to support Larga operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of similar Housekeeper experience in a hospital or industrial-type setting, which includes public interaction
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks
- Able to lift 20 pounds on a consistent basis
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- An aptitude for problem-solving
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
- Patience and professionalism to tactfully and diplomatically interact with clients, visitors and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Inuktitut is a strong asset
- First Aid / CPR/ AED trained (or a willingness to learn)
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training (or a willingness to learn)
