Qualifications:
1. Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a retirement home.
2. Ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to follow oral and written directions and to do simple arithmetic calculations.
3. Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling and moving of light objects.
4. Must be free of communicable diseases.
5. Must provide a recent Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
6. Must provide a recent Tuberculosis Screening test and proof of vaccination for COVID 19
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a clean, safe environment in the residence.
2. Work as a member of a team with all other residence personnel.
3. Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.
4. Willing to train for other positions in the retirement home (UCP, Reception, Dietary)
: Housekeeping
1. Clean, dust and vacuum residents' bedrooms and public areas of the residence, i.e., lounges, corridors and elevators.
2. Clean and sanitize residents' bathroom and all washrooms in the residence, including windows, all fixtures, tiles, floors, vanity and mirrors.
3. Clean rooms vacated by residents and prepare rooms for incoming residents.
4. Collect refuse from residents' rooms and other areas of the residence and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.
5. Clean and organize outdoor and patio furniture.
6. Water and care for plants in the residence.
7. Clean and restock housekeeping cart.
8. Report malfunctions in equipment and repairs needed to Maintenance Department through the Maintenance Memo Book.
9. Notify Housekeeping Supervisor when housecleaning suppliers are low.
10.
Document and sign on all task’s sheets provided for the department.
Dietary Aide
Functions:
1. Assist Cook with food preparation as required.
2. Complete departmental cleaning and ware washing as required.
3. Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.
4. Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences
and outlined departmental procedures.
1. Clear and set tables, load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual
ware washing as required.
Reception
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides initial face-to-face and telephone contact with visitors. Provide direction to visitors and callers;
- Welcomes and orients new residents, family and guests;
- Responds to inquiries from potential residents, family members and guests (as required).
- Answers telephone;
- Ensure all visitors and residents sign in/out appropriately, including screening if required.
- Sorts incoming mail daily for distribution to residents and all departments. Manage outgoing mail;
- Types correspondence including confidential material; Composes correspondence that does not require Executive Director’s attention;
- Assist with department staffing for call-ins as required.
- Organizes workflow through administrative office;
- Co-ordinates meetings and schedules appointments as required;
- Completes routine forms as required or directed;
