Program: Haven House

Location: Brampton

Status: Full-Time

Hourly Rate: $25.21 - $26.75

Hours: 40 Hours weekly

Schedule: Rotating Shifts

EFry Hope and Help provides trauma-informed, inclusive and gender-responsive programs and services to support women and girls at risk or involved in the legal system in building stable lives.

We are recruiting a Full-time Housing Support Caseworker for Haven House, an emergency shelter bed program that supports self-identified women experiencing or at risk of homelessness, receiving temporary shelter. It offers assistance in accessing permanent housing and in-house support services, including life skills training, counselling, employment, mental health and addiction resources and referrals to other community resources.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Housing Support Caseworker must be available to work on a rotating shift schedule with varying shifts. The successful incumbent will assist in developing the program and supporting the staff team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Intake clients to prepare detailed case management plans to support the client’s goals.
2. Monitor clients and the facility to maintain safety for all, maintain a stable environment, and respond quickly when needs or risks arise.
3. Provides clients with supportive housing needs, basic life-skills coaching and behaviour-management support; facilitates physical, recreational, social, and educational activities; serves as a positive role model; and plans, prepares, and leads weekly house meetings and one-to-one support sessions to help clients set goals and work toward achieving them.

Provides clients with emotional support and constructive feedback and assists them in building the skills and confidence needed for successful integration and healthy functioning in the community.
5. Completes required client and program reports and statistics, ensuring all documentation is accurate, thorough, and up to date.
6. Identifies community-based social needs and housing supports, that meet clients’ needs, and builds effective working relationships with agencies, professionals, government partners, landlords and community organizations.
7. Actively oversees daily residence operations by checking cleaning equipment, addressing indoor and outdoor maintenance needs, managing inventory, and coordinating food services to ensure consistent quality, safety, and readiness across the facility.
8. Performs light housekeeping tasks, contributes to planning the meal schedule, and assists with meal preparation and food-inventory management as needed.
9. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community resources that support clients’ needs and provides liaison, education, and advocacy with community agencies, professionals, and neighbours on issues affecting clients.
10. Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- An undergraduate degree and/or diploma in a related human/social service field or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position.
- Understanding of the complex challenges experienced by homeless women in obtaining housing, employment, educational and community opportunities. Thorough knowledge of agencies, resources, and supports within Peel to address identified challenges.




- Experience working with vulnerable populations including those who have experienced homelessness, violence and isolation, and with complex mental health needs and substance use disorders.

- Possesses familiarity with HTI/By-Name List/SPDAT platforms.
- Proficient knowledge of Housing First Principles, Residential Tenancies Act, and the Landlord Tenant Board.
- Knowledge of government financial assistance programs such as OW, PHIPP, ODSP.

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Check).
- Standard First Aid / CPR certification.
- Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test in compliance with the TB Control Program.

- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Doctors note of fitness to perform the duties of the job.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record (Preferred).
