Shift: Evening Shift: 3:00pm to 1:00am - Monday to Thursday
APEL Extrusions is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Industrial Maintenance Electrician or third- or fourth-year Electrical Apprentice to join our team. This position plays an important role in reducing production downtime by performing preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical breakdowns on manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain production lines used in aluminum extrusion, paint and anodizing operations.
- Identify root causes and develop solutions for recurring equipment problems.
- Complete preventive maintenance according to the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Identify and address equipment issues that could result in downtime or production stoppages.
- Provide information regarding required replacement parts, tools and materials.
- Maintain maintenance shops, equipment and work areas in a clean, organized and safe condition.
- Safeguard company tools, equipment and supplies.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Electrician certification or registration as a third- or fourth-year Electrical Apprentice.
- Previous industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills and experience working with a CMMS are considered assets.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Ability to lift up to 22 kg.
- Ability to successfully complete the APEL Skills Assessment Test through SkillPlan.
Working Conditions This position works in an active manufacturing environment. The workplace can be noisy, and temperatures may be warm or hot and fluctuate throughout the facility. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
